Here is something you never thought of... a group of evil characters sees a good person summon a good aligned creature.

"He's a good'n what then? Lets git the suckah!" *charge!*

"And thus I clothe my naked villainy with old odd ends stolen forth from holy writ and seem a saint, when most I played the devil."

... because all persons of the world invariably seem to possess this ungodly power to sense everyone's true nature, ie. alignment, immediately within a single action. Celestial/Fiendish creatures are and can be easily discernible, however not every average Joe with a bad reputation is going to have the knowledge to tell such.

      Shun the non-believer! Shuuunnn....

As far as benefits/losses with characters go it would be a benefit to casters and no one else really, as long as the creatures matched the existing spell circle, creature table, and CR. I suppose my point would be to keep it lined within balancing range as to appease everyone, and they'd be less inclined to do so if there were more choices as opposed to more power. My thoughts would be that people would rather want it that way, but people here seem to be rather unpredictable...

Why do I always sound like a b**ch in my posts...?

Honestly, players shouldn't be worrying about if things should and can be balanced.
I generally take care of that.

I want you players to worry about the upcoming events and if your going to survive. let me handle this kind of stuff.

Damn, didn't mean to peeve you off or anything it's just that as a designer I tend to swerve towards balance issues more than anything else. Guess it shows more than it should... still wubs you all.

When a thread gets derailed by debates over balance... it ends badly, every time. Just refocussing this thread away from what's balanced and what's not.

Yea, you'll have to hopefully overlook my whining as I have a habit of debating issues. It's not my most prized attribute... useful in other areas, maybe.

Anywho, let's do this! Can't wait to see how/if you implement it!

-falls off a cliff hitting every spiky rock on the way down, bursting into flame mid-spin before crushing into the jagged shoreline below and being struck by lightning... in eagerness-

I agree... lets go back to the question about summoning pie.

Right. Balance issues asside I think variety is ALWAYS a great thing to have. It gives RPers more to work with and turns a relatively bland spell into something super-awesome.

Also, while we decide that 'balance' will no longer hold us back! ...SAULUS, SEAN! WHERE IS MY PALADIN MOU - *is stricken down by unknown, yet obvious forces*
