  • Poisonous Arrows

I were chatting by the campfire with Pyras about poisons as my character mentioned that he uses a bow and thus doesn't have any use for venoms.
That made me thinking, would it be possible to have the poisons work also on arrows somehow?

There's of course the thing that I'm not sure if it's techically possible to coat the bunch of 99 items at a time but if it is, the duration is only 3 rounds, so it limits the usage (and if you think about it, coating a greatsword with poison and then coating an arrowhead, you'd think that you were able to coat quite a few of them with the same amount)

Alternatively I was wondering if it would be possible to have poisonous arrows sold somewhere?
Luckily in NWN2 the neverending damnation of terrible arrow prices is gone and you can buy them separated so it wouldn't be so big bother if they were expensive.

Also since in FR there are poisons which do have more varying effects than simple ability damage, such as drow sleep bolts, perhaps some special arrows/bolts could be added for sale for different effects, for unlike with weapons which have effects like this, none of the arrows are permanent and can be hardly spammed for the sheer price they cost.

That would be my 5 cents to the matter.

Mechanicly, the only ranged items you can poison are darts, throwing axes, and stars. The thrown items.

Adding in arrows with special abilities like sleep or dispel is a good idea and I'll take it to my boss.

I always liked the targetting arrows that splattered the target with luminescent paint and decreasing their AC because of it.

Yeah I actually got suggestion that I came up with about the paint arrows:
Make a set of arrows that have OnHit: Cast Spell Curse of Impending Blades (it has no save) and make the arrows no damage ones with several -5 to damage properties.
They'll do no actual harm but anyone struck by them will have -2 to AC after they hit.

Would be useful for other classes too.

oooh. I like the idea. It'd get even better if they were craft-able. Finally, the archers can be a force to be reckoned with.
        characters:
Jos'iah Ithildurin - Semper, a guardian of Haldemar. "One should always be faithful"
Elijah - Warrior Mage and Legionairre of Sundren. "My axe and my magic will cleave you!"
Duskthorne - Bounty Hunter. "Every land needs a masked man to do the dirty work for them" (personal heroes: The Knight of the Flying Rodent and The Monk of the Arachnid Order)
