  • Raise / Resurrection Spells

I have a few things to suggest regarding the Raise and Resurrection line, based on experience for a while with the death system as it stands.

    1. Is there a way to trigger a dialogue box on someone casting Raise or Resurrection on your corpse object to allow you to grant or deny permission? I ask because the PnP spells have always required permission from the subject, and given all the XP that is lost from a high-level character being raised by anything but DM, it's not a trivial concern.

    2. Might it be possible to burn a Signus as a material component for a cost-free Raise or Resurrection? Let's be honest -- for a character over level 10, and definitely over 15, there is going to be little reason you would ever want to be raised by anything but DM, if possible. Waiting for several days would be a preferrable alternative to losing a lot of essentially irreplacable XP. Also, I OOCly feel bad on casting Raise, since the penalty is really stiff, and it feels wrong to be docking someone that much experience even if you're sort of helping them. In fact, since returning, I think I have cast the spell a grand total of once.

    I like your suggestions.

1.) What I will do is add a toggle to the plyer GUI for Ressurectable On/Off. Simple solution. It will be up to you to remember to set it to your preference (just like the searchable option is up to you)

2.) I need clarification on this? Are you asking to burn your own signus to raise someone else cost free?
If so: You'll have to ask The ID, Saulus, Dune, and LH. There's lore behind the Signus and I for one don't know what it is. I wouldn't feel comfy doing that in case I found out later a signus is a soul shield or your own gods blessing or something. I know signus's were made non transferrable for an exploit reason, and this idea may fall under that umbrella. I can explain it to you in further detail in a PM if you wish to know, RK.

Regarding 2): Yes, that's more or less exactly it. It was an enjoyable part of being a divine caster to be able to RP out reviving someone. Now, it more or less doesn't happen via PC, but only ever by DM.

Granted, it's not as though clerics and favored souls need any more goodies.

I wouldn't see it as a goodie for the Cleric or Favoured Soul, but rather, everyone they ever come into contact with. Like me. When I'm dead.

1.) You will see this in place in a week or two. The scripts are finished, we're just waiting on our graphic artist to design us another beautiful icon for it. (Read: This will NOT be in the next update)
2.) I've got the go ahead for this, though this will be much longer in the implementation as it involves a new GUI pop up and I have to map out possible exploits and close them down. Maybe a month or so before you'll see this.
