While I do think a waist length towel for men and a chest length towel for women is a very good idea, it does open a potential door for very...... bad things.

But I have to disagree with the last part of your reasoning -the one that is in line with the official POV that partial nudity will lead people to adult RP.
I also feel that the above mentioned statement is unfair for the vast majority of players.

If I felt that the people I come here to RP with are immature adolescents who are waiting for the chance to do stupid or kinky stuff, then I wouldnt be here.
And if you guys feel that way about the players in here, I really dont understand how you find the courage to invest so much time and effort for this server. I know I wouldnt.
So I come to the conclusion that your opinion about the players isnt that low after all.

And, consequently, you are more than willing to give the towels a chance!

If you insist on restricting partial nudity by force, there is something else you can do. Restrict the use of towels inside the bath house only.

It could be appropriate, realistic and it may also add extra flavor to the whole bath house experience:
A character may go to the bath house but he/she may not have a bath UNLESS he/she pays for a towel. And ofcourse, he/she cant take the towel with him/her when getting out.

I'm going to take Vavutsikarios' side on this. To limit the possibilities in this, but on the same token giving opportunity to the players and having faith in their judgment. It seems like the best of all the poisons.

Granted, if it is too much effort, then it would likely not be worth it and far better to do something elsewhere.

Maybe it would be enough to give people plain white shirts/robes in the bathhouse. That should be close enough or at least much better than sitting around in a dirty brown robe or even armor.

Well, I have no trouble at all agreeing with Saulus discouraging adult RP, but I have to disagree with the assumption that public bath houses necessarily encourage this kind of behavior.

I mean, if they DONT encourage sexual activities in the real world, why should they do that in a fantasy setting?

I was in Instambul a few months ago.
And while there, I had a turkish bath.

There was nothing even remotely related with sex in the whole experience.

I went there with a friend, the place looked a lot like Sundren's bath house, and we got our towels. Then we were left for about half hour in a chamber, really hot and with 1000% humidity, and just when we couldnt stand it anymore, two turkish guys came in, fat guys with big mustachios, and they started beating us! Ok, it was a massage, but it looked a lot like beating


After having the turkish bath:
a) my three-days old headache disappeared
b) my batteries were again fully charged even though I felt really tired until then
c) I felt exhilarated and more fresh than I had for quite some time

And there was nothing, nothing at all, that could be associated with "adult RP" in anyway.

But, on the other hand, if the general assumption in the western world is that public bath houses are related with "adult RP" then, I guess, I am the exception in not seeing them that way and, ofcourse, if there is a policy of discouraging "adult RP", it is only reasonable for it to be applied here too.

But, if that is the case, why is the bath house there at all?

My personal opinion is that everyone on Sundren is probably mature enough to handle towels. But does it really matter? I mean, how much better does it make RP?

I've been in that bath house before, and it's not that hard to RP nakedness, when it really comes down to it.

Plus, I'm poor enough already without having to pay to get into the bath house!

Why not come up with somthing like bath robes that you could get from an npc there at the bath houses. It could be tasteful enough not to show anything yet still give the players somthing more for the bath house experience. Not sure if there is a way to make it coded that you cant leave in the bath robes. The NPC there could sell thebath robes at 1g or somthing.

Just a thought. *shrugs* I might visit a bath house more to relax is there was proper attire

Anyone here played the NWN1 module "Dance with Rogues"?
Despiting the fact of the high sexual content, I liked the bath and make up system.

Bath:
You enter unarmed at the bath house and when you enter on the water a script is triggered and you receive lesser regeneration (in NWN2: Lesser Vigor) permanently when you are at the water.

Make Up System:
Paying certain ammount of gold, you can raise your charisma 2 points for 1 day, when you rest, goes off.

How to apply this in Sundren without being pervert?

Make Up:
Add 2 or 3 NPCs on the Sunny Spindels offering that service.

Bath:
I have a epic scope for this bath, like the healing houses of LOTR or the Geisha's houses on a RTS oriental game.

My idea it's a big house made of wood in the middle of a forest. In that house, there are womans and mens, of different races.
That Bath house also it's a shrine to pray for Sune (love, hedonism) and Liira (parties).

So, we know what in an adventure, a Lvl 6+ character can run off of healing kits, potions, healing spells and have 10 minutes of cooldown between rest and rest.
I propose the addition of a Temple (Liira and Sune)/Bath House on Sundren, on a forest, maybe replace the transition on the Viridale forest to the Grove and replace it for that or a spot on the world map.

You make a lot of valid points Vav, but it is not so much the people I know in Sundren. In fact, I dare say that every person Osclow knows by name (and everyone he knows but forgot the name of) would act maturely. And it probably goes much further than that. I bet the fair majority of the Sundren populace would behave. It is just those few possible individuals that like to screw things up that MAY screw things up. Sundren is a free access server and that has it upsides and downsides (mostly upsides).

If something like bath house attire was to be added, there is probably a very good chance nothing bad would happen, but it is not a 100% chance. True, one could argue that nothing in PWs has a 100% chance of success, but certain battles need to be picked and some need to be avoided completely.

Besides, Sharr said no models like that exists and I can only imagine how hard it is to create things like that (being computerly-handicaped and all). Plus, Saulus does not want them, and he is god-er..I mean guy... guy in charge, yeah.

Regardless, I do think many people on this thread have made really good points and come up with very good ideas.

And I might want to mention here that I cringe every time I see this thread show up in the new posts section, it's only my second suggestion and I feel, like my first one, it not only died, it died like a Yugo trying to jump the grand canyon while dragging an RV behind it. I don't want to be a trouble maker because I am absolutely enjoying the hell out of Sundren since I've come here.

On the issue of model's though. Does anyone remember Lisa from NWN1? God her work was awesome, I wonder what she's up to these days.

Oh and will someone else check out the Greek Robe and see if your hands disappear too?

I don't see the probelm, you can always pretend you have a towel on when you're in the bath house, and if not, you can probably just wear guantlets or gloves with your greek tunic.

Don't worry, i doubt you're trouble making. Now when you leave a post saying the entire staff is useless, then that is trouble making.
