Hell yes, half-elves are fugly. Considering they're supposed to be humans with elven features (or, well, vice versa), the game really doesn't do them justice. It took me about half an hour to create Wings' face and she only looks half decent because her "girth" was turned to the skinniest and her eyes are a nice blue. It's surprising how different a face could look with different eye colour and hair type, so tinker around a bit more. However, in game it tends to matter less because of the various headgear you can put on. If all else fails, you can always stick on a helmet and hide your ugly mug.

Incidentally, I think strongheart hins are also pretty ugly (males AND females), which is sad because I like them more than lightfoot.

        Hey, I'm a mutt!

Actually, they have proven scientifically that diverse ethnicity is considered more beautiful than purity. I have to find that study somewhere, but it was pretty convincing.

Beans is a strongheart and he is dang fugly, but that is just perfect for the character. I think Logan the Foul is a strongheart also.

Personally I think the creepiest face is one of the humans that looks like he is perpetually about to cry. He looks all shriveled up and freaky like an Edvard Munch character.

OK, this thread is now about ugly portraits in general!

I'm almost sure most of you have read of the Head of Vecna adventure, but if you haven't here's a link, but why I'm posting it here is near the very bottom of the page is a list of 250 things the other is never allowed to do in an PnP RPG game again, number 224 is why it's here.

P.S. if you don't get nostalgic for PnP games after reading that 250 list, call 911, you are missing a pulse

I don't think elves of any sort get a lot of love in NWN2. They're described as being all fair and unearthly beautiful-like. But in truth, to me, most of the models look like their head was dehydrated.

All this being said.. you should be made aware of a fact.

Haks containing altered faces/hairstyles/bodyphenotypes are loaded after character creation for Multiplayer Modules.
Haks containing altered faces/hairstyles/bodyphenotypes are loaded before character creation for Local Modules.

Meaning even if we added them, the process of actually allowing you to choose them for your PC's at Character Creation is a long and complicated event which would minimally require a DM to verify your PC before it was allowed on the server.
We want simplicity not complexity here.

Why is it like this? Go ask Obsidian. There about 3 weeks behind on the patch in which they claimed this was fixed.

Until Obsidian does their bit, there is really nothing we can do for you.

I cannot help but wonder how many things the Sundevs are poised and ready to pounce upon when Obsidian gets their patches going.

As for half-elves, I do think the males are a little odd looking, though the half-drow look just fine imo. The female half-elves do have ONE good face (fairly good in fact) but the others are not so much so.

I would have to agree, the male half-elves look very odd. I wish obsidian would just do a patch and fix their ugly faces.

I personally think that half elves are a great race to play for role playing. They are usually considered outcasts by both humans and elves alike usually causing them to wander looking for those who would accept them or others like them. There is a lot of versatility to be had with that template. Plus one of the things I liked about this server when I was looking for somewhere to play, I remember someone saying that this server focused more on role playing than class abilities and power building. Someone even mentioned it was a good opportunity to flex your role play muscle and use characters that where not as strong of a class, like the bard someone gave for example. But like I was saying that is why I chose to join here because of the fact we could role play and have that kind of diversity. So THAT is why I would suggest the OP to playing a half elf.

That's true. Powergaming is not really powergaming in a server like this. Dumping stats and tricks that can be useful can make you less likely to gain special items from the DM. Having a good WIS or a good spot check may have been all you needed to get that excellent +2 weapon. And if you took PG-y stats (and played the character properly based on these stats), you may miss out, therefore defeating the purpose of powergaming.

And actually, bards are pretty deadly. With Inspire Courage, our BAB is often just 1 away from being full (and all our party buddies get a piece of that), we have excellent support abilities, and a killer debuff that allows for no save. We are also probably the second best base class at skills, behind the rogue of course.

Just so I do not derail the topic too much, I cannot recall much of what the female half-drow look like. Where they well designed?

Yes I am fond of bards myself and know they can be powerful. That was the class that was used in the post I had read. I believe it was a jab at someone else who played a bard. Hmmm...may have been a jab at you. You might want to look into that.

A jab at me? *whimpers* Okay, I admit I should have known Mass Curse of Impending Blades was not party friendly. Please forgive me already. *speaks to no one in particular*

*again tries to keep the topic on track* So... half-elves... yeah.. That Arilyn Moonblade is pretty cool, eh?

Actually, that's true. Wings (level 4) have +11 Bluff/Diplomacy...which is useful befitting her snooping journalist status.
btw, she hasn't killed a single anything yet. Is this an achievement?
