Anyone remember this from 2nd Edition PnP? (I know, I'm old )

http://www.wizards.com/dnd/files/WildMagicTables.rtf (might need MS Office/OpenOffice or sometrhing to view that file - unfortunately I found little else on "teh intrwebz")

I had a truckload of fun with those Wild Surges (my party didn't, mostly though ) It would TOTALLY make my day/year/decade if some time in the future we could have a Wild Mage class, prestige or otherwise, or simply have wild magic effects introduced in some other way.

    Far out there, I know
Annaleen Wiltenholm-There's always something to smile about.
Chani Kalera- Intimidation is the new diplomacy. *looms*
Eleanor "Bloody Elle" Lark - Why is the rum always gone?
Yolanda Brown - If life gives you lemons, make lemonade. But unless life also gives you water and sugar, your lemonade is going to suck.
    Astrid Hammerhand - Och!

I never used a wild mage in PnP but I did use one in BG2, which was really fun, they had a similar (maybe not the same, not sure) table that wild mages rolled on, like that one.

    Rhime - or is he?

Scroll down the the wild magic table to see how PnP handles it

A lot of those effects wouldn't translate well into NWN2, but I think it would be loads of fun to have a wild magic area.

I really like that.. Wild Magic zones or even dead zones have always spruced things up in my online play of various D&D based games.

Wild magic zones are rare, and although a cool thing to do, for the majority it doesn't fit in Sundren. That isn't to say we won't ever do them, but if we do you can consider it a rare and unlikely occurence.
The very existence of flame-throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.

I enjoy dead magic zones immensely, makes for some serious tension, and makes pure fighters suddenly essential.

Yeah, dead magic would really be a kick in the pants.

It forces party-play, it forces strategizing ahead of time, and it is a great premise for RP. Seems like everything Sundren strives for.

Dead Magic can't be that hard... in NWN1, didn't you just click a button and the entire area blocked all magic?

Short answer: Yes. It was a checkable option for any and all areas.
Long answer: May be different in NWN2.

I have been in dead magic areas in nwn2, and that was on a server that got online 1 month after the release. So I beleve it is not hard to make.

Sorry guys, but when I hear anti magic area, I don't think of the areas that block spellcasting that everyone settles for. I thin k of the areas the remove all magical effects off your items, all your potions stop working, your +5 sword is no just a sword, etc. Thats in addition to the no spellcasting bit. I really really doubt theres anything like that in nwn2 yet.

On Sundren, if were gonna do it.. were gonna do it right. If we don't have the quality, we got nothing to set us above other servers.

EDIT: not even obsidian was willing to go that far in the OC in that anti magic forest.
