  • Suggestion for familiars

I was shocked to find out that normally familiars aren't allowed inside the trading post. I think this should be changed as they can be possessed and RP'd. My familiar has a completely different personality from me, and I have spent several hours RPing a relationship between him and another character. I think this is good, and also, as a matter of practicality, the Traders sell wizard scrolls, They have every incentive to allow wizards familars to come inside.

    What do you think?

Someone had an issue with me the other day for bringing my Badger into the trading post.
So there aren't rules against this?
        Confused now.

I think it's based on common sense. Bring a huge bear (animal companion) and you'll get kicked out. A bat is probably testing your luck. I doubt if anyone will care about a rabbit.

You might be able to get away with pretending your wolf is a dog, but a badger...?
I guess badger's shouldn't be allowed, they can be quite dangerous (I assume, haven't met one before)

I think the Sundren area laws state that any animal that enters a city / encampment area needs to be leashed, so if you leash them it should be lawful.

Regarding Magical Presences and Domesticated Wild Animals

Magical presences are defined as creatures, beings, familiars, or presences bound to an individual by means of magic or of otherwise unnatural origins. Many magical presences are outlandish and bizarre in appearance or behaviour, and it is therefore unlawful to have deviant magical presences in town in all of Sundren unless approved by the local or State government for the purpose of research, exhibit, or emergencies.

A moot point, in my opinion.

It's a little more ambiguous than that. It's a permanent settlement, the land on which it sits being owned by the Sundarian government. Sundarian law applies, but it's up to the Exigo to enforce it.

Mirumoto Akagi: I suppose you can dance if you like, but you're leaving our friends behind, and they're not dancing.
Dalon Arogard: Then they're no friends of mine.

Is it owned by the Government?
Or is it owned by Exigo?

All the land is owned by Sundern. The Exigo only lease it or have some agreement with the government to occupy the space for its business.

They are like any other merchant or network that opens shop, but they are just well connected. For instance, "Imminent Domain" applies everywhere in the valley and beyond except perhaps Veritas/Schild Mountain which is why there is a conflict there with two opposing factions.

Imminent Domain means that at any time or moment the government can confiscate the land from any tenant for any reasons they see fit.

If I ever see a guard enforcing this law on a kitty, I'm going to make a huge scene. Rabbits too, for that matter. At the very least, I'll be laughing OOC.

Use your common sense peoples! Of course the Exigo won't care about your kitty cat, but if you wander around with a huge spider or a bloody great bear then the story may be different.
