I was too pissed off and busy responding angrily to register that clarification.
Sundren City does have some problems and I trust my fellow mapper to improve it. However, Darius_Rechtak's suggestions just aren't particularly appropriate to a PW, for reasons pointed out by Rhifox et al.
Can I stop being reasonable now please? Thanks.

In my opinion, easy access to/from world map combined with ability to sit is what attracts people.
You cannot sit in taverns, no taverns are directly adjecent to a world map transition (you always have to zone, and for many people, zoning is an undertaking that might very well mean a crash to desktop, and if nothing else take considerable amount of time).
The exigo trading post have both these advantages, I'm sure lots of people would welcome something with a roof if it had the same comforts.
My character rather likes being outdoors though, and so do I

Nah, you'll probably see my guy in "The Four" (as I like to calls it...as of right now) or "Jimmies". Assassins Creed is a great game, but the engine was designed to handle the virtual Metropolises. Honestly, if there was an "Oscars" of video games, Assassins Creed might win the award for "Technical Achievement". As a programmer, I am absolutely stunned by what they have accomplished technologically. The birds eye views from the view points are simply *amazing*.
NWN2 simply was not designed to handle an area that big, with that many people. Every NPC is another object that the server has to track in real time. Start adding too many of them, and well...
I wouldn't mind the addition of new city areas. I like to wander around and explore places and haunt buildings, so if "no one will use it", *I* certainly will.

Unfortunately, AC also gets really boring after a few hours of repetitive minigames.
On topic, I have the opposite view of the original poster - I think the city is currently too big. However I'm assuming, based on what I've seen from the design team to date, that they have plans in place to fill it out over time. That will take a lot of work, but I expect the end result will be rather spectacular.
I guess I'm all about density. Less sprawl with more content.

Anyways, back on topic, Nobody really hangs out in the city, so I see no reason to make it bigger then it already is. Its really a waste of time..Currently playing:

Think of it this way. Players get comfortable with locales like the old sharahan hills and the old crossroads. The staff thinks those areas are junk replaces them with Exigo trading post and new crossroads. Players feel awkward at first but see the benefits of hanging there. Players start trickling in and then you got a new hang out spot.
Players usually never determine the cool spots on the server, the staff does since they are the ones that place interest in those areas and make them as ergonomic as possible for player to do what they intended the players to do, ie: Dungeons for combat, taverns for social/resting, and campires/merchant areas for general hanging around.
Players are like dumb mice following a trail of breadcrumbs to specific areas of the maze.Currently playing:

Originally posted by Infernal_Havok View PostWell Steaky, no one hangs in city means that maybe, like everyone was saying, if there was more content, people would come and stay there, hmmm?
There's plenty of conent, theres a ton of inns and taverns and the city is big enough to have districts.
Then we have Sestra, Aquor, Mirkalus Post and the Port.
Not a content problem.
The problem is, as I see it and as I said ... is about convenience. If people are tired of hanging out at the campfire, round up some friends and go somewhere else. There is somewhere else.~ Sigrun Hael - Ranger of the Viridale

I've got a new suggestion. Make Assassin's Creed multiplayer and let's just play that.Names Taallic.
Only time can save the world now.
Immortality is your last hope.

This isn't rocket science. People go where people are. You want someone somewhere else? Go somewhere else.
Didn't take too long for people to gravitate to the crossroads yesterday when Tera was there. And it won't take long for people to gravitate to the university when Tamryn and Etria were there. People go where people are. Grab someone, move locations, and be there for awhile, and people will show up. Boycott the camp fires (You'll be doing me a favor anyway).
There's a joke that bad things always happen in the crossroads. But guess why? Cuz people are always standing there. I'd love for bad things to happen in remote parts of Sundren, but you guys never go there, so you never see them happen there
