  • Sharanan Hills

don’t know if anyone in management or any of the DM’s know about it but there’s a problem in the Sharanan hill’s. First of all it’s the only thing for lower level to do, so they just end up going in circles in in the same area doing the same thing.
Second, PC’s that are to tough for the regular goblin’s but cant handle the Gnole’s simply run around through the cave and just go after the boss witch leaves several problem for the other’s, like sometimes that leave a large bunch of goblin’s sitting outside the caves.
The boss is also a problem, allot of PC’s can easly handle the normal goblin’s but get wiped out right away by the goblin boss, there’s a LARGE difficulty jump. You might wont to add some more goblin’s that are more difficult and add them to the spawn and open up the spawning number, let the AI choose the number and difficulty to spawn. That would also help it look more random.
What you have doesn’t leave much room for lower level exploration or roll play, and starts player’s off with a farming mind set.
If it help’s I was thinking about trying to make a swamp or marsh for the Sharahan Hill’s that you could put kobold’s in, or something else.
1 More thing, what is CAD? was thinking about donating.

Since the boss is mentioned here... can anyone tell me when his "huge black question mark box arm" is going to be removed and we have some more good looking arm?

        General tips for dungeoneering:

Lone wolves die early and die often. If no one is inviting you to join a group, run around and try to get some of your fellows to band together. They need you just like you need them.

If you are a healer-type, make friends with a fighter-type. If you're a fighter-type, make friends with a healer-type. If you're a magic- or sneak- type, make lots of friends. Come up with tactics that will keep everyone alive and sticking to their specialties.

Roleplay is what you make of it. If talking about fighting goblins and emoting grunts, sweat, and the like isn't your bag, then talk about more abstract philosophical subjects relating to the goblins--like why their meat is so succulent and fall-off-the-boney. Or start a discussion on what goblins dream about while you're killing them.

What would make a successful goblin marriage? Are there goblin women in those caves? If so, where did they go? Why are we fighting the goblins, anyway? Why is there a trap right in front of that pit of brown water? What did the chief eat to make himself bigger and stronger than other goblins: human or elf baby?

Obviously, certain avenues for in-character goblin discussion will be most geared towards certain races and alignments, but if all else fails, you can talk about how disappointing it would be if you never got to see that hot elf you bumped into at the store again, all because you got beat up by a goblin. The cry of "Alas!/Woe!" there is pretty universally understood.

I find rogues and bards die before they can find a group, fighters can do it solo, so if there's no group on their path, they just carry on by themselves. Healers are usually clerics or druids, and they can usually do it by themselves too.

Basically, I think the new shaharan hills is just too damn big for people to find a group easily... atm with my rogue I have to use an invis pot just to find people.

I just usually follow the trail of dead bodies until I run into someone. I guess it depends on your hours of play.

There is also a place under the city that lower level characters can go to (if its still there). You can also left click on your character, bring up Sundren menu, and click on find players - it will tell you where groups are that you may be able to go rp with and maybe put together a party.

The big thing is the party. My bard ended being the tank of the party because he was with a low level rogue and wizard. They gave him what buffs they could and they did rather well. They also healed him alot. But the party thing is big and if you use the find players function, you can always find someone around I would think.

There's nothing that needs to be rebalanced for the spittlefist, Sundren encourages party-play. If you are having too difficult of a time then find a bigger party.

I think the problem is that
                  a) not enough people know about the sewers

                  and

                  b) the monsters there are essentially harder for less reward

No one knows about the sewers, because the entrances are not labeled on the maps. I did not know how to get to them until I RP with someone that knew how to get to them. There are other places that I do not know how to get to (Thieves' Den), but I am assuming I must RP with someone to find out how to get there.

Every one has great point?s and idea?s, but I think everyone may have missed my point.
I was suggesting upgrading the spawn?s so there is a broader range of goblins with different numbers to make it more random and to bridge the huge gap between the underling?s and the boss, and maybe adding another area to the Sharanan Hill?s that I was going to try to build, a marsh or swamp with Kobolds.

Rogues and Magic types can do it solo from level 3 on, provided they play it smart. High dex for the AC, light armor for the rogues (buffs for the mages), Protection from Arrows if at all possible (it is the single best spell for Sharahan), and a ranged weapon. The ranged goblins do the most damage out of them all (again why Prot from Arrows is so essential), so you need to kill them first. At this level, your ranged weapon is also more powerful and more likely to hit than your melee weapon (since you can get powerful ranged weapons and arrows in certain shops that are much more useful than available melee weapons), so the best thing to do is to fire off a ranged weapon at the ranged goblins, killing them, before switching to a melee weapon to kill the melee goblin. The melee goblin has 3 BAB, so even though he's getting lots of Attacks of Opportunity, he will almost never be hitting as long as you have 16+ AC.

Don't assume that we have some kind of open policy of taking area submissions from players. I wouldn't want you working on something expecting us to add it.
