is there a way to put a lever behind the secret doors like in a certain banite cave and a certain bandit cave so that the door can be opened from the other side. sometimes the doors closes to fast or players lock themselves in and cant get out.

Get better Spots skillz, lol.
Seriously though, agreed, but I believe the devs were planning on getting around to that anyway.-Arcanist Josirah Caranos, Red Wizard of Thay

I would say the secret doors are one of the most irritating features in Sundren right now. I love just about everything, but gettting stuck behind these doors really sucks. Also, you would think that the search skill would be used to detect secret doors as you use that skill to find traps also, but no, spot.
To me it doesn't make sense. Secret doors have pivot points, levers, hairline cracks, etc... and traps have similar conventions; therefore, would make more sense to have search as the primary criteria for finding secret doors.
But, I guess you could argue for spot also?
Thanks for all the hard work!

Search is used when you know what you're looking for... I.E. You "search" the room for the dead Wizard's spellbook.
Spot is used to "notice" things. I.E. A strange formation of rock catches your eye, upon closer examination you see that it is the trigger for a door.
You can't very well search for a "secret" door because in theory you don't know it's there, otherwise it wouldn't be secret.Don't run...you'll only die tired.

That's what I was thinking when I scripted it. I like it using spot, because alot of people don't take spot and it gives the skill more use too ^_^Originally posted by Vichtor View PostSearch is used when you know what you're looking for... I.E. When you are searching for traps, you don't necessarily know exactly what you are looking for because each trap can be set up differently and have different mechanisms or even be magical.
Secret doors can be different also and you could be searching for the same items. You don't know if a trap is in an area; however, you would look nontheless and if you are searching for traps you could also be searching for secret doors or detect them. You would not see red and then say, ooh, a trap, then start searching, you are always passively searching and then can do more intense searching if you choose.
I understand your logic, but I think it could go either way.

It could, but we didn't. There's so many skills in DnD that could be applied to many different situations, some even multiple skills would make sense.Originally posted by ThePaganKing View PostWhen you are searching for traps, you don't necessarily know exactly what you are looking for because each trap can be set up differently and have different mechanisms or even be magical.

Most skills in NWN2 are already consolidated DnD skills simply because there are so many.
Where search comes in useful already we will leave it as is (traps for instance being the main thing, looking through a container, etc). However other skills like spot we might want to enhance their usefulness. The very existence of flame-throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.
