  • Red Wizards of Thay

With the amount of good RP'ers wandering the server as Red Wizards, would it be a good idea to have an entry in the Wiki giving an overview and history on the group?

and since they throw parties, some insight on to what they have done for sundren and their generally history would be good.

Just saying "if it wasn't for us red wizards there wouldn't even be a sundren" to another adventurer isn't going to cut it anymore. people wanna know.

Actually there's only two PC Red Wizards, the rest are DM/plot characters.

I guess that explains the good RP'ing I mentioned! Whether they are PC or plot characters, I think it would be good for background. Whenever you are around a RP area with other characters, you'd be hard pressed not to find a red wizard.

For the astounding price of 60,000 gold pieces the Red Wizards of Thay cast a chain of fireballs that shook the earth and sundered the mountain completely, sending boulders and debris flying miles away. When the dust cleared, the mages were gone and the rocky road to fame finally appeared.
Ironically it's in the Wiki. The Red Wizards are the ones who paved the way into the valley in the beginning. And to help you guys understand the pricing. 60,000 gold coins in this example is like 600,000 coins in Sundren.

Red wizards aren't limitted to Sundren, so putting out info on them is alot of work.

, anks char had 600k before the wipe.

And If that lore thread still exists, you could just ask there and TheID would give an answer. Though i'm not sure if its still around...

Edit: Found It. You can ask questions about Sundren related stuff, and the red wizards are sorta connected with sundren. The threads a bit old though. O_O, Thread Necromancy!

I've already written up a lot of the Red Wizard lore, it's just all in the Thayan forum. (though not their general history as I didn't believe that was necessary at the moment though I can copy down their line-by-line timeline if it's necessary for the Wiki. And not their Sundren history as that's up to Saulus).

1 Stag (coin) in sundren is ~1 US Dollar in real world. We did this because it's easier to balance and understand the value of things for us devs. It also means we don't have a server filled with everything being 1g and a player picks up 1g, giving it to a peasant and feeling like they just gave them a month worth of food. Adds granularity basically.

So basically Mundus spent over half a mil, getting a group of wizards to fireball a hole in a mountain.

Come on, Sundren money isn't that worthless.
The very existence of flame-throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.

I hate to say it, but the US and Canadian dollars are almost equivalent right now. Way to go Bush administration!
