• Assassins

I really must say that it is frustrating that an assassin must be evil. That is just stupid really. While I firmly believe that an assassin cannot be good, I think that neutral (at the least True Neutral and Chaotic Neutral) Should be allowed for an assassin. I mean, there have been assassins out there who work for the government, or those who truly just do not care about anything but getting money for their assignments and take any job, be it good or evil.

Just something I thought I should bring up.

I believe the class name "Assassin" is misleading. It's more than just Assassinating people. I mean, a rogue can be just as good of an assassin in that regard. It's more the manner at which they're doing it. When you start delving into using toxins to screw people over while you finish them off, and disabling muscle control so you can slice and dice them while they're defenseless, you're getting into what I like to call "Torture Killing".

The techniques an assassin class uses would not be something a good person would be motivated to use, and that's the idea. It's like the difference between a simple bomb to kill people, or a bomb that shoots razors out in all directions on explosion, slicing up people into ribbons.

Also, this doesn't seem like a suggestion to me

Ah, what I am suggesting is that you all open the class to CN or N or both.

And the Assassin class does have a few skills that make it more assassinie(?) than just a rogue outfitted as one. And do not get me wrong, I love making my own prestigious classes with just a combo of many classes, I just think it is hard to properly duplicate the assassin class simply as a rogue.

I meant that for taking 1 person out a rogue can do that too. Assassin is just "Death is my business" which is kind of evil to think about. And I think government hired assassins are evil Just L/E.

You kill for money.

Money > Life.
Personal gain > Others' misery.

Evil.

Just what i belive on assassins
Sacrifice everything as the final darkness falls... in the end, all that awaits you is death. Only then will you understand - you've been following in my footsteps all along.
So come then, you heroes! Come in all your power and glory! For in the final hour, all must serve the one... true... king.

Eh, will I figure that the assassin who just does not give a flying f&@k about who hires him would be neutral, as he is not swayed by evil, but when you bring up the point that "death is my business" then I can see your point.

Also a Government assassin would not be L/E, to me, because he cares for his country enough to do their dirty work, that is a N or L/N assassin, but one who just does it for money, well yea. That bastard is evil

Just because you have the class assassin doesnt mean you kill for money.... You can simply be learning those ways to use it for good, evil, or whatever you want to. But i have to admit some of those things can be a bit evil, such as poison.. Still, i just hate Alignment restriction where it doesnt make 100% sense.

Then why does he accept pay? And what if his government is evil? Are you saying Drow assassins who kill rival houses to better their house are Neutral?

In truth, I'm not cool with "Profession" based classes in D&D. D&D could do without half the classes it has and just add selectable feats to mimic them. Why not just give a rogue "Death Attack" as a feat choice? Why not just make paladins evil or good and have the spellbook reflect it? Then you don't need Blackguard.

That's just my personal belief. The fact Sundren is lacking greatly on people making "Pure" class builds pretty much backs up my feeling. D&D 4 I was told is moving towards what I just said, so, we'll see.

This is more like a rant rather than a suggestion, as previously mentioned we never have any intention of modifying existing classes. Closed.
The very existence of flame-throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.
