Forum suggestion: Shoutbox

I was thinking the forum might benefit from a shoutbox. For those not in the know, it's like a mini chat log where people can leave messages. A fair number of forums have them. I think it'd be great for short bursts of advice and DMs being able to announce "Hey, stay out of this area, I'm working here." Or "Ignore the gigantic bonfire outside the Second Wind." Or for players to coordinate, e.g. "I'm not on tonight, I've got to see a man about a horse." I think it'd be better than the twitter idea from a while back.

If the current forum implementation isn't capable of this, disregard. I mean, we could have a shoutbox thread, but it'd overload the recent threads system.

Not sure about implementation of a Shoutbox, our forum dev team is pretty empty at the moment.

Personally I don't see the harm in having a single Shoutbox thread, if there's just one then it won't overload the recent threads system at all.

I thought that might be the case. I know forum development is a bit of a thankless task in comparison to work on the server, with a very different skill-set to boot.
