    Just more of my inane musings here. Is it possible to use a script to change the material type a weapon is made out of?

    So you could make a custom effect that could be added to +3 weapons that lets them morph into Silver/Cold iron at will.

    +4 weapons (if anyone even has one) could likewise have a script that lets them become Silver/Cold iron/Adamantine at will.

    Of course, giving them more than 1 material type would be ideal, but I doubt that's possible or someone would have done it already

    To piggyback off of this, it'd be nice to have some weapons with the "good" or "evil" descriptor and such. I don't think I've ever seen any with that.

      Yeah good point! According to the NWN2 Wiki Balors and Pit Fiends both require Good to bypass their damage reduction.

      Does anyone know if this is actually true? Holy weapons and Final death weapons should have that descriptor. Do they bypass those creatures DR correctly?

        I am not sure I agree with morphing weapon types at will. That would make anyone who took a feat such as fey skin completely pointless.

        Though I do like having good and evil weapons.

          I was under the impression that x/good and x/evil forms of DR were overcome by +EB vs good/evil respectively.

            Well, seeing as only Players would be able to do it not NPC's...and players right now can switch between any of the 3 weapons they are carrying at will, it actually wouldn't make a whole lot of difference.

            It just means you don't have to carry around 3 different weapons. And making a +3/+4 weapon would be something awesome to aspire to.

              I would rather force someone to change weapons and actually rp having to figure out why one weapon works better then the other actually. I get that people would rather not have to craft three separate awesome weapons. But I think making feats useless is something I would prefer not to see.

                Basically this, the above suggested change makes the different flavors of DR pointless in leu of magical enhancements, and it also makes different existing weapon materials inconsequential.

                Not a personal fan of dumbing it down to that degree.

                Magical weapons are only just now becoming available for purchase in shops with any real variation, as far as enchantments go, you needn't look further then the paladins bless weapon; +1 vs evil.

                  I'd still prefer it the Pathfinder way, I don't think its dumbed-down just slightly more logical and reminiscent of the good ol' AD&D days, back when the whole party gets wiped out by the Balor because they didn't have any +3 weapons >: )

                  But, if it's gonna upset some people (especially Warlocks and Fey-touched I'd guess!) it's probably not worth it in that case.

                    Edit; nvm, forgot about the great FS nerf of 2013

                    Like I said, I'd be more for the suggested system in a world like say ADnD where getting to level 20 was a big freaking deal, and even having a +1 sword was pretty badass. As it stands, the availability of the enchantment sorta seems like it'd just kill flavor.

                      First, we won't be implementing any weapons that are able to morph material types. If you want a cold iron sword, forge one.

                      Second, once the weapon stores go in certain factions that are supposed to have good/evil weapons will have them. Because those factions are mainly good/evil.

                        I await the day! As for morphing weapons, I don't really like that one bit. I like the idea that you need to find the right combo of damage to overcome the DR, although the amount of damage being dealt by some of the classes, the DR is really of no issue for most.
