  • Advent Crypt...holy hells!

That place is a noob trap.
It is one of the first quests offered out of the city and yet the challenge is WAY above 4th level pay grade.

At least the preist should warn them. If I was a brand new player and I walked into that shite storm I would question the server as a whole. "why would they set the challenge so high?" With out knowing there are other places to go ie hills. just be a bit frustrating I think.

I maybe that first room is just to messy. I got mobbed and feared. and had some 6 guys on me.

I went back.. it is brutal in there. the lathandite needs to tell them to bring backup... "bring someone you trust to watch your back, for the advent's forces are ever growing." something like that.

There were minimum 12 enemies in the first room.

Risk and reward is great though and is a very nice dungeon. Kudos to who ever updated it. the quest is doable. Still I think some sort of noob warning would be good.

It is one step above goblins and sewers in the city. But I routinely head there immediately at level 3 and don't have much issue on any of my characters, except the ones that will always struggle at low levels like sorcs or weird bard builds.

I think the progression is a little backwards, because the goblins are generally easier to fight (no damage reduction, fewer spellcasters and the ones they have don't have as harsh of spells, easier to find places to rest) although they DO have those ridonkulous doors and some traps that can do a little bit of damage. Those freakin' doors.....

It would probably make more sense though if they told you to go to goblins first then do the crypt then go to Viridale. I like the challenge and reward of the crypt so I often bang out a few levels there, but when you're not a strong melee type it is much, much harder. I've done it with rogues and wizards and it is usually a lot of burn down one guy, run away, rinse, repeat. Since finding a group or even a partner at low levels can be tough, I would suggest maybe an additional side quest? I remember there used to be coffins in the crypt you could loot and turn in the rings inside for xp, maybe bring that back and make it repeatable for low levels?
I can't slow down, I can't hold back though you know I wish I could. No there ain't no rest for the wicked until we close our eyes for good!

I agree with the warning if only because it is treated as the next step from sewers, when it should be the next step from goblins.

I've had no issues at all, I find it easier than most other places. The start area is, but simply bringing a bow and draw enemies to you works wonders, as backup arrives from other areas there. I love the magnitude of scrolls that drop there. Like most other places this is doable with right planning, tactics and builds. Or paladins.

That Crypt is amazing just the way it is. For new members of Sundren and low levels its an unique experience .With some strategy you can have a lot of fun.

Truth be told, I'd rather our areas have a bit of challenge, even for the lower levels, rather than not. People shouldn't need warnings to be careful, because it's a challenging setting. Be prepared, learn to run, and bring friends.

I could not disagree more. No one incoming knows what sort of challenge to expect. how could they?

Sure a bit of tactics make all the dif but it is a beginner level, and as such should be more forgiving or at least come with a "smoking kills" label.

Granted death consequences what they are there is only 5 minutes lost but as a new player this would be enough for me to quit the server. I would think the devs have no clue on how to balance dungeons and I would look elsewhere an not get to experience what I know to be a great server.

oh and crawmorr, i am not saying the crypt should be changed but there is no way a new player coming out of the southstreet sally quest could complete this dungeon.

Untill very recently South street sally was wickedly hard. In my experience getting to the crypt actually meant progress.

Doing PVE content solo on Sundren seems hard no matter where you go. Perhaps a 'Sundren Kills' Stamp would be better. Have you considered that maybe staff are looking to attract players that do not give up at first sign of resistance?

I think it's not too bad, but I do agree that some of the spells the mages throw out are pretty rough.

Keyword is solo. I won't be averse to NPCs hinting to new folks that it would be best for them to get help: "Hey, Joe Newguy, we really appreciate you offering help, but just so you know, the survivor of the last group we sent in reported a whole lot of nasty, nasty spell-slinging dudes. You may want to bring some trustworthy sorts and be prepared for all sorts of magical attacks, savvy?"

If that warning is given, and the character still chooses to brave the crypt solo and underprepared...well...the NPC tried.
But please, keep one thing in mind for me. What have you become when even nightmares fear you?
