  • Sorceror Bloodlines

Since I made the post about Tiefling Sorcerors, I figured I'd make this one too.

Since this server is trying to make itself more like Pathfinder I was wondering: Are there any plans to implement Bloodlines for the Sorceror?

The way they work is: The sorceror picks a bloodline. When they do they gain a skill that immediately and forever becomes a Class Skill for them.

In addition they gain a pre-determined spell per level that is automatically added to their spells known.

In addition they gain perks as they level up that are in conjunction with their bloodline.

The Example below is from the Infernal Bloodline (posted from Pathfinder SRD)
    __________________________________________________ _____________

    Class skill gained: Diplomacy

Bonus Feat Selection: Blind-Fight, Combat Expertise, Deceitful, Extend Spell, Improved Disarm, Iron Will, Skill Focus (Knowledge [planes]), Spell Penetration.

Bloodline Arcana: Whenever you cast a spell of the Charm sub-school increase the DC by +2

Bonus Spells known: protection from good (3rd), scorching ray (5th), suggestion (7th), charm monster (9th), dominate person (11th), planar binding (devils and creatures with the fiendish template only) (13th), greater teleport (15th), power word stun (17th), meteor swarm (19th).

Corrupting Touch (Sp): At 1st level, you can cause a creature to become shaken as a melee touch attack. This effect persists for a number of rounds equal to 1/2 your sorcerer level (minimum 1). Creatures shaken by this ability radiate an aura of evil, as if they were an evil outsider (see detect evil). Multiple touches do not stack, but they do add to the duration. You can use this ability a number of times per day equal to 3 + your Charisma modifier.

Infernal Resistances (Ex): At 3rd level, you gain resist fire 5 and a +2 bonus on saving throws made against poison. At 9th level, your resistance to fire increases to 10 and your bonus on poison saving throws increases to +4.

Hellfire (Sp): At 9th level, you can call down a column of hellfire. This 10-foot-radius burst does 1d6 points of fire damage per sorcerer level. Those caught in the area of your blast receive a Reflex save for half damage. Good creatures that fail their saves are shaken for a number of rounds equal to your sorcerer level. The DC of this save is equal to 10 + 1/2 your sorcerer level + your Charisma modifier. At 9th level, you can use this ability once per day. At 17th level, you can use this ability twice per day. At 20th level, you can use this ability three times per day. This power has a range of 60 feet.

On Dark Wings (Su): At 15th level, you can grow fearsome bat wings as a standard action, giving you a fly speed of 60 feet with average maneuverability. The wings can be dismissed as a free action.

Power of the Pit (Su): At 20th level, your form becomes infused with vile power. You gain immunity to fire and poison. You also gain resistance to acid 10 and cold 10, and the ability to see perfectly in darkness of any kind to a range of 60 feet

I think I made a suggestion about seeing if bloodlines could be implemented, and was told then that it would likely be too complicated. But I would love to actually see it happen. Some of the bloodlines are really awesome.

I think you're looking for this.
      Active
Reinamar Stormseeker - The bladestorm that must turn back the wind. Arkerym of The People, practitioner of the forgotten art, pariah.

Tyler Penleigh - Obligatory author insert, Red Blade Defender, sarcastic jerk, caring brother, loving fiancé, war criminal.

      Retired/Dead
Eirimil Gaelazair (Dead)- Bitter. Caustic. Abrasive. Egocentric. Probably right. Found dead in the burned-out Viridale forest a few weeks after the survivors were able to sweep the area after the Bloodmaim offensive. Aside from his usual attire, an intricate music box was the only thing in his possession.

          a) What Lotus said.

          b) That would be very cool, might have to take away some of the other perks they've been given then like the free armour proficiency/armoured casting. Especially the immunity to Fire/Poison with all the other stuff added on top would make them a lot more powerful than a Wizard.

It sounds interesting. Some of those abilities seem pretty powerful though. Maybe if you were allowed to select some of the abilities as feats rather then just recieving them?

I know this had been talked about in the past. While it would be neat. I think Sorcs are just fine they way they are right now.

I'd have to disagree with Talleyman just based on numbers. I know of only 1 sorcerer on the server and that character has PrC shenanigans for crazy DC's. The two main arcane factions both crap all over sorcerers (Thayans and Hands) for being untrained and reckless. They would probably fit in well with Hand, Exigo, or Blackwood...but I still can't say I know of any. Bloodlines would certainly beef them up a bit to compensate for their lack of spell diversity, might convince more people to play them.
I can't slow down, I can't hold back though you know I wish I could. No there ain't no rest for the wicked until we close our eyes for good!

Talleyman plays a sorc himself, so he would have a good idea. I have one myself, and she does pretty well. The Legion has some pretty nice sorc gear.

All for Bloodlines, though I do agree they'd probably need some toning down from the base Pathfinder versions. Though I can't even imagine how much work it would be to implement.

                        Sorcerers are fine as-is.

i think simply allowing for more PRC option for spont casters would be a better use of time.

I'll agree giving mere options to all classes is a good thing. Now A sorc, no i've played 3 to 20 pre change and 2 to 20 after changes. It is night and day how good they are. Full and total agreement with Lotus Sorcerers fine as-is.

True my only problem with Sorc.'s is they RPly just don't seem to fit well anywhere.
