How about a policy or practice being put in to announce to PCs online that an update or reboot is coming in like five minutes? Giving folks a chance to log out or otherwise save?

This was brought up before: long story short, if I can I will. Once I update MY files I can't login to do it (I also don't always have someone to do it for me). I also can't leave the update to go with the nightly reset (as proved by the common update failures I have to constantly go through, and then read about fifty posts for something that is obvious to me [and should obvious to you by now if you've played here]).
The reality is if people don't like it for how often I do it, I will probably just do even less updates and let things sit for a loooong time. The very existence of flame-throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.
