City Threads?

Hi,

that sounds great, because rumours is my most favourite thread. I'd like to see:

- something like a short overview of current state of the city (regularly updated and very very short) or about the general mood there,
- two or three major public rumours (Lady "Somebody Important" spent the night in the house of Sir "Somebody Important", whilst her valiant husband was fighting the perfidious elves in Mossdale), things what the guys like me could talk about by the campfire, but something that doesn't need any other DM attention or event to follow,
- classic rumours spread by players and DMs as it is now.

what do you want in the short summary? i don't want it 'too long to read.' we have specifics already in the wiki for people who want to take the time to read the details. right now I was just thinking of making the head of the post something like this:

This thread is meant to act as a role play rumor thread for activities specifically in and around Sundren City. Its aim is to help players and staff keep track of city/town progression and downfalls as well as provide entertainment to all. Details on the city can be found in the wiki here and will be updated by the staff depending on various role play factors. For more information on how the economy works check the economy guide. Please keep in character and feel free to character request any believed needed updates or adjustments. DM staff, of course, should feel free to adjust as needed.

I'm curious on how people would like city activities and rumours updated. Right now I'm thinking of just making a sticky in the rumours thread for each city where those with presence in given townships can post public stances and players and staff can post responses

Official statement:
According to the latest news, the plaque in the Cheapside is receding. The high Judicator (some name) and the priest of (I don't know who) assured the public, that their joint effort brought hope and victory in the fight against the disease. The Captain of the City Watch made an official statement, that any rumours about the plaque being caused by agents of the Black Hand are just poor fabrication and the distributing of such an information will be considered a crime against the state and will be punished by death.

What's the word in the Cheapside about it:
The general mood is pretty gloomy, the latest witnesses claimed another house being locked down, its inhabitants were forbidden to leave. Early in the morning the gathered mob burned the house down together with the sick, forcing the city watch to run away. More and more people die every day.

What's the word in Aspirations:
Lady Blackwell was heard to hold banquet, all Lords and Ladies are invited. To glorify the valour of the Legion fighting for our lands, the red robes theme was chosen. Abundance of fine wine and best delicacies from all over the world was seen delivered to the Comfort Inn Feast Hall. Special seat was dedicated for the High Judicator for his victorious campaign against the plaque, right next to Imperatu Verinus (?? or Veritus ??) who is announced to come.

This is a long version in my mind, could be shorter - not every week something very significant happens. No history, nothing just what's going here and now. It doesn't have to be the truth, just a rumour. What the people say. It'd give me a quick conversation tips (instead of trying to join the conversation about some arcane nonsense ).

The same about the war effort - Our armies valiantly withdrew their positions, because of the tactical mastermind of Lord Commander. They left half of their equipment behind just to confuse the enemy and gain the moment of surprise in the upcoming counter-attack, about the situation in Sestra and other cities, (only the four major ones, not every village).

They are rumors. Anybody can make up rumors, rumors do not always need to be true. If you need to start a rumor that does not link to you as a player then use the character request section.
