  • Possible use of Appraise

It's a little weird an idea, and frankly I think other people will find it silly, but would it be possible to use Appraise and get a base idea of price for certain items, outside of a vendor?

Like, set the skill on your bar, click a item, and pop it up in the little info window with a rough estimate of the base value of your item. Higher your appraise, the better your estimate. Hardly a 'necessary' thing, you can go to a couple of NPCs and weigh the slight differences in prices to pretty much get the same idea, but I thought it might be a neat little thing, especially for between character trades where anyone could claim any price to those that don't really know. Or for people like me, who can never think of a decent price range to put things at.

Like I said, much better ideas floating around, but just a thing I think would be a little neat to have. Might see a boost in item to item bartering for it.
I can't tell you enough how happy I am to escape.

Literally this feature already exists. Use appraise on an item after equipping it to the hotbar.
The very existence of flame-throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.

... pffft. Wow, sorry. Hahaha. Thanks, guys. XD

Take this thread off for me, would ya? God, I'm so so sorry I never knew that before, that's a red-cheek moment.

Had a run with it though, impressive!

Do be aware that it doesn't always offer entirely accurate results every time, but should be fair and usable for most gear you can collect or buy throughout the world.
It breaks down on custom-enchanted items and dropped gear with penalties: I've got a +3 adamantine vamp-2 shortsword on one character that appraises for around 2000 GP, and some items appraise to have massively negative values (amusingly though: not the cursed gems of Ixis). It's not perfect, but it does the job for most circumstances.

          Cheers,
          Kit
