  • Dinosaur companion change

Is it possible to have this altered or the option of others like dire or even an appropriate magical beast (for like clerics/rangers of gods like malar)? As it is now it kinda doesn't make sense for any other diety other than ubateo (sorrybout its spelling).

Any other thoughts on the subject?

I like that, just make it a dire version of whatever animal companion they've already got...

      Yes, please.

Every time I see a dinosaur up on the climb part of me dies.

It's broken for clerics, FYI, won't ever progress past level 1.

Adding dire versions sounds cool to me. Might be hard to implement that though. A simpler implementation might be to change the feat so it gives the standard versions +4 stat boosts or something.

I think they only used a raptor cause at the time of nwn2s releace there must have been one of the jurassic park movies out then...

That said it would make spending the extra feat worth it not only for the back up value, but might make for some different rp with a arulite showing up outside aquar with a polar bear! (not a bipolar bear just to be clear he he he even though that would be fearsome! )

I like the idea of dire creatures.

Would be cool and good RP wise.

Dinos are associated with Ubtao yes, but I don't understand how that should prevent a character from another nature deity of bonding with them. Dinos have fascinated men for a long time, don't see why a character couldn't want to seek one for bonding, except for the fact they aren't exactly common in Faerun. You do spend a feat to get it, meaning you went an extra mile over a common animal.
Also, any cleric of a nature deity with animal domain/druid could have traveled to Chult and bonded with one, lived there or found another dino somewhere else, it's not like they are only found in Chult, despite being rare outside of it.
The dino companion was also already nerfed to have lower stats, to the point he loses an imense amount of hp at max level and a few ac/ab/damage when compared to the default one.
I'm all for including more animal companions, but not removing the dino.

                One word: Ixis.

More Words: While an expanded animal selection and options might be nice it's something that's unlikely to be done in the near future. Rangers have just had a fluff up and Druids aren't on the 'Need a buff' radar. There are simply other changes and mods that are higher priority for our limited DEV time.

In my old nwn1 server the devs had a tool which gave animal comps another skin. I Had a bear that looked like giant crab. Just the dire form appearance would be nice.

I hate the dino. You might do a cool backstory that even makes sense, but from that and to drag it into the spine? I won't cry if it's removed.

Would a texture pack be an easier thing then reworking the whole companion? I imagine animals of similar power it would be easier. Anyone with the know how on this have thoughts?

And ill agree that yes chult is a good excuse, but isix makes sences, though a level 3 runni g around with a dino from an island thats for much higher levels is a bit of a stretch, but thats jus my opinion.

It seemed very easy for the DMs to change IG. But nwn1 and nwn2 are very different games in that regard, is my impression.

FWIW the appearance changer in NWN2 is utter, utter crap compared to the system that NWN1 had - It can lead to all sorts of hilarious bugs and glitches that are just to terrible to be even worth considering.

So, no. That's not happening either.

If it helps your immersion factor then feel free to brush up on the warmblooded hairy/feathery dinosaur discoveries and theories.

Phorusrhacidae would make a pretty scary animal companion. A serious Dire-Chicken if there ever was one.

                              Plus, childhood memories.
