these are pretty entrenched towns and have grown large enough to have an infrastructure. would it not make sence to have sewer systems in place fort these towns? might make for some good low to mid level areas and great RP places for the less than law abiding folks to move around a little or at least hide from the law.

I don't think sewers would really work well for these towns - They're large, but not large enough to have the serious engineering work of a sewer system, especially as they're both coastal and have a large, easy to use waste disposal system lapping at their doorsteps. Consider the importance of the night soil wagons, how late they were still a fundamental part of even the largest cities infrastructure and the rarity of real sewer systems in the sort of time period that D&D is a pseudo analogue of.
Plus it's pretty boring to have the same kind of dungeon setup in each town.
That said, more dungeons are always good, it's just that they're better delivered as location flavoured scenarios. For instance smugglers caverns, coastal caves and blowholes, warehouses over-run with vermin, or if we want an evil dungeon then a set of caves that operate as a sort of underground railroad for Sestra's citizens, evil characters can enstabbinate liberals to their hearts content. It is the greatest of all mistakes to do nothing because you can only do a little - Do what you can.

Wouldn't those caves in Sestra be for the goods to hide in?
Anyway, would love to see some more development on this front, give a little more life to the areas, the tunnels under Aquor have been a good way to avoid the town for some time, however not always expediently. (depending on who controls the town may make a difference of who is utilizing the tunnels.) One thought to add to this part of the depth, possibly being able to pay for safe passage. I see this as either simply dumping the character at the other end, (simple but less fun) or temporarily setting the faction hostilities to neutral until they either backtrack out of the area or finish passing through. As for Sestra, an underground system would be interesting and fun to see... but the Lizards might object. Someone welded the door shut on the other set of caves...Ghal Narish, Battle-Mage

The current sewer system in Sundren City is problematic, but fun over fact for games. In Avanthyr, I'd be willing to bet chamber pots are used and emptied into a gutter in the streets or perhaps a few public bathrooms that are essentially holes that drop into said gutters.

How about an Underdark running the entire length of Sundren

I ran a waterdeep theif campaign where in one adventure, the PCs were traversing the sewers on their way to the Seaward (fancy town) to rob some rich nobleman. They kept hearing this strange *pop* sound shortly followed by a "splash." They couldn't figure it out because it was always infrequent and at random intervals, and they were sure some monster was stalking them. However nothing ever came of it.
Later in the adventure as they were robbing the noble's manor, they found a magic chamberpot in the privy. At first they thought that whatever you put in it simply vanished. Toward the end of the game one of the players finally said: AhHA!!!
Ill bet the well to do would have these across Faerun.

Seems a pretty high magic way of doing things to have a teleportapotty.
Night soil men and other traditional methods (like dumping it into the sea) seems a whole lot more likely. It is the greatest of all mistakes to do nothing because you can only do a little - Do what you can.

I think the current dungeons are fine for now. I think the developers are busy with other more exciting projects.

Most of us sewer workers are an odd lot. We find the strangest things funny and know way too much about sewers, past and present. Our office is decorated with a strange assortment of sewer like toys and comics depicting sewer like pictures. We love us some Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. :-)Originally posted by Elusa View PostI hope you don't deal with chamber pots.Byrun - Wandering Swordsman
