  • Junk Equipment for Faction

There's a lot of junk equipment that drops in the wild - scale gloves, leather boots, etc. Most of this stuff is barely worth the weight for carrying it. I don't know if it has any purpose for crafting.

What if these could be turned in for reputation points? Yes, it's similar to the old gold dropbox, which had its problems. But those problems can be mitigated with formulas and caps. I can see these items being used in a generic armory for a faction though - equiping guardsx and whatnot.

Down side, could encourage more muling than we already see.

I think the up sides out weigh the down sides.. its gear a faction "could use" which is other wise useless and left to litter up areas. particulary at low levels where faction flags are worth little. what is an extra point per item vs weight of the item being dragged out of the goblin hills?

it cant be any worse than the argyle flag.

Win some. Lose some. I don't see a need to change anything. I pick everything up. Sell what I can, trash what I can't. :-)

Sounds like a cool idea, not sure if it is practical. But definitely a good idea!

sounds cool to me... the weigh of all of it and the fact that it is not stackable would deter muling I should think. and really *slap* to anyone muling scale gloves!

I don't know. The guard houses are a big hit... and they seem much more reasonable.

I am a big fan of reputation points, especially when you work hard to get them. But this seems more like buying reputation, and while I liked it when we could... it was/is not popular.

                  Cheers!

Obvious place to leave a working pair of gloves, a decent pair of boots - or even a turned tunic is with all the poor bastards in the Ilmater sanctuary. just by the boots I find, no street urchin will be bootless for ages in Sundren.

Why thrash those scale boots? Better donate it to Abby. I'm sure Laurk won't be bothered by it. to begin with

I wonder if equippables can be made stackable o.O If so, make them 10 stackable and sell for 1 gold, don't always have to trash them and would be ridiculous to go looking for them.

non-magical clothing is probably grossly underpriced if you can't even sell them for 1 gold. Considering a glass of beer goes for 5 stags, id probably increase these item's value.

Take a trip down to a 3rd world country and you generally see people walking around with no shoes and in rags, even if they can afford beer. In Sundren, our beggers are beerless but wear nice shoes and high quality clothes if the price of things is any indication of economy. I suppose the Sanctuary should start turning away shoes and clothes and accepting beer for the down-trodden.

By the way, just a thought (please don't kill me for suggeting this) The Sanctuary of Avanthyr has a donation table where they RP accept clothing, food and medical supplies. Its not functional, but since it was mentioned trading these kinds of things for rep, perhaps that could be a decent place to do it for those not in factions, or who may be interested for RP sake? If your'e going to give clothing and shoes you find away, a homeless shelter seems the logical place to do it? Perhaps donations of that sort to the Sanctuary would result in a bump in the "Commoner" faction as opposed to a person's own faction? Im not saying this as a way of subverting donating to one's own faction, but rather as an addition; meaning you could donate in both for differant sorts of faction rep.

Last thing, Perhaps if clothing prices are raised significantly to reflect a real economy, a "starting room" could be implimented where you could buy your starting clothes for only 1gp and sortof get the look you want "before" entering the server's world.

If beer is 5gp. I would expect even rags to be priced around 20gp and normal clothes closer to 100gp per outfit.

Please please take this suggestion at face value and weigh it based on logic rather than who is suggesting. This isn't a powergrab for the Sanctuary. Our goals for world dominations are a bit differant and will be revealed "only" when its too late for anyone to stop us.

If you base it off PC crafting prices, it's more like 100g for rags and 300-500 for colored clothes (using wool). But the point of keeping the normal clothes cost low is that you can't preview them. But at least raise the price so they can be resold rather than dropped on the ground or, more responsibly, in the trash. Could do that with trash equipment too.

EDIT: Also if I recall, the idea of a starting store/area has been mentioned before and the devs said they wouldn't add it. That was a while back though so...?

Legacy had a clothing store where you opened up cabinets such as: Men's cloths. Women's Cloths, Hats, shoes, etc.

Each one had the price listed in its name, and you could put them into your inventory and wear them to see what they looked like. Whatever you left the shop with, you bought, and the gold would be extracted from your inventory.
