Can we increase the stack size for thrown weapons?

I suggest this because of the awful UI and behavior that occurs when using them. For example:
    • When you run out of a stack in combat, it doesn't automatically draw another stack. Instead, you charge into melee with your fist.
    • When you run out of a stack, it disappears from your quick cast toolbar. You have to open your inventory each time to equip them or put them back on the toolbar.

So, I think increasing stack size to a really high number would mitigate these things. With Manyshot and Rapid, you go through them quickly; with only 50 in a stack, you are frequently dealing with the issues above.

Ditto for arrows! Also, an additional problem for bows/crossbows is that although it auto-adds a new stack when you run out, it randomly picks it (or picks the most enchanted, not sure). So if I'm using cold iron arrows to fight demons half way through the fight it will switch to those precious 15 Ice arrows I was saving for a boss.

I am ... 80-ish? % sure that the way the game chooses a new stack is based on the arrangement of your inventory. I believe the stack that is chosen is the first stack going horizontally from left to right across the first row, then second, and so on, then moving to the next page of inventory if there are no arrows on the current page.

So, if you arrange all the arrows that you want to save for special situations on the last page of your inventory, at the very bottom-right, and you arrange all your expendable arrows on either pages in front of it, or on the rows above your special arrows, they should be safe from being autoequipped on consumption of a stack.

Or at least, this always worked for my archer!

        wangxiuming is correct.

Arrows are chosen by how they are in your inventory, and when you hit the sort all button it puts your enchanted arrows first. So if you don't hit that button and sort your arrows with the mundane ones first, then it will choose those first.

The engine puts smallest stacks first, then organizes similar stack sizes by value. handy trick if you have enough of your more precious arrows is just to make stacks of 50 for your normal arrows, assuming stacks of 51+ for your special stuff.

Still dosen't really help throwing chars, never played one :-/

in my experience it dosnt randomly pick arrows or magic prioritize them.. it takes the next arrow in the next slot of your inventory..

for example if you have 4 (99) quivers of regular arrows in the first four inventory slots, and your +1 (99) quiver is in the 5th, then you have to go through all your regular arrows before it will automaticly get your +1s.

or if your +1s are in the the second slot, it will go in this order of use: reg, +1, reg, reg.

unless there is a setting that changes this... this is my experience with arrows.

my advice is, keep all arrows in your first page of your inventory. it will be easier to set them up that way.

I would would be in favor of making unlimited stacks for mundane throwers but IDK if the TS allows for this. Throwers got screwed HARD. This basically assumes you can run and pick up the axes you threw. hell even unlimited stacks on magical would be fine imho.

This is great to know, although I am a big user of the auto-sort button, I like to keep my inventory looking tidy!

I noticed that when I put my special arrows in my bag of holding (which incidentally is in inventory slot 1) they still got switched to when my stack of normal arrows ran out!

Maybe I should put ALL my normal arrows in the bag, so that they all count as being in inventory slot 1 Will try and see if it works.

I can confirm that putting all your crappy arrows in bag of holding in inventory slot 2 means they get used first, saving all your good arrows from being used by mistake!

Bumping since I haven't heard from staff on this. From what I remember, this is a pretty simple TLK change. Is this something you guys would be willing to do? Pwetty pweese?
