  • Inn Rooms

Now that there is free storage located at Avanthyr: Bank, City: Bank and Thayan Enclave, and now that all temples and Inns are rest zones, it seems there is no mechanical advantage to renting an Inn room and that it's just for RP.

In light of this would we consider lowering the prices for rooms and extending the maximum booking time?

Most Inns are completely empty nowadays (all rooms fully unbooked)

Inn rooms should all be made 1 night only, so there is a higher chance you will find an open room, still use it for rp, and still get your items... my thoughts on the matter.

There are plenty of open inn rooms now; the eight that will soon be available when the Drunken Dragon is finished should give everyone the chance at a room.

If the problem is free access to storage, then banks might need to start charging for those safety deposit boxes.

That's an even better idea! It should be a little cheaper than a room I suppose, but rooms have the added convenience of being easily accessible to counterbalance that.

problem with inn rooms now is the same as it was before: People who buy the room, and only log back onto the server every 2 weeks to keep it, and they don't ever let it go. There are still rooms in inns that have been booked since when "I" started playing, and that was way too long ago. I am actually more in favor of something I saw on another server, Desaria. Now, most of that server is pretty horrible, design wise, but their system of houses was pretty rock solid. You owned a place, people could visit you there if you were there, and only if you gave permission. Same could work for inn rooms, where you pay to rent the room and it opens up this "You and friends only" area for one server reset where you all can do inn-based RP or whatever. Private convo's, that kind of thing.

That would be cool, though the houses would have to be really expensive (like 150K+).

The most gold I've every had was bout 3-400K and that was after selling off all Altherion's epic gear before I retired him.

I know some people have way more gold than that, but making it too high would be restrictive for people who can't play every day 24 hours a day.

Also, I'm pretty sure Dain would buy out all the property then rent it to us anyway. Bastard.

I'm fine with the current room situation. It provides a decent spot for one to send correspondence to for unfactioned active characters who secure a room, a meetup spot for characters to roleplay in relative privacy, and permits a waiting period lenient enough to ensure your residence does not vanish if you're even moderately active but short enough that it is freed up once you disappear in order to let others enjoy the benefits the rooms provide (considering the amount of them is limited). While it may not be a mechanical necessity, it still does the job quite well.
