Had this thought today and I hope its as good in text as it is in my head.
I was fortunate enough recently to get added to one of the in game factions that has a broken join quest, namely the EbonCoin Pact, this happened when one of the senior members of the faction took pity on me running around the sewers like a headless chicken trying to track down a group of low life's called the "Lost Souls", eventually I found out that they didn't exist, which I really should have known before hand, but it was early in the morning and my brain wasn't working properly.
Anyway, I got added to the faction by a pc who had over the required 10k rep to join others but the problem was that I had no way of getting a key to the faction lair, at least not without a dm coming along to help me out (Thanks to Dispater by the way for fixing me up with a key!)
Anyway I was thinking.. could it be possible to program particular faction NPC's to have a conversation string that is only visible to those player who have the rep requirements to be able to join new members?
The conversation string being tied to getting extra keys?
That way it allows factions to have a level of player autonomy, governed by the players who have obviously worked hard toward their faction goals, of course it may only be the EbonCoin Pact that has the unique position of needing a key to access their faction area so this may be pretty much moot..
Still I thought it was worth a mention just in case, after all if a player has the ability to grant faction access to another player it makes sense that they should be able to give them the basics needed to access their new faction areas.
Just thought i'd throw it out there.
