  • Exicorp Timber Industry

    Hello all,

Suggestion: Exigo sell [Timber] and/or [Plank].

I'm not certain how many people it affects, but its struck me as unusual that the Exigo Trade Post offers iron ingots and cloth, but not any form of wood.
I'm certain we are all well aware that their logging operations in the Viridale are hampered, but it seems odd that even so there is a greater trade in Icewind-Fir than just plain wood, particularly since the Fir is used for exactly one item instead of over a dozen.

    Questions, comments, critique,
    Cheers,
    Kit

      Bump.

Figured I might bring it up with the various movement of exigo and co lately.
Would this be a reasonable proposition?

as much as this pains you my friend, could we not do the opposite? ie remove the iron and cloth from the stores, give the power back to the gatherers.

you already control the prices for gems and ore, I can't see why those that mine/chop can't sit on the supply!!

As much as I would like to see a bustling gathering community, with regular delves into the Untrodden Grounds to kill a spider queen for 2 silk a run, I would cautiously predict it to go a similar direction as the woodcutting business. Most of James' lumber supply over the last couple years he has harvested himself, due to the nonexistence in loot-tables for timber and the extreme difficulty in locating even apprentice lumberjacks.

I fully support a PC-driven economy, with all it's gatherer-dependent strife for higher tier materials, but doing so for the foot-in-the-door basic crafting materials sets crafting at far too difficult an entry level bar.

I would also point out that I may 'control the prices', but only to an extent. I suggest my base purchase price, and others seem to sell it to me without argument. Free-market principles have more effect on what you can sell your goods for than what I put on a single forum post, I think.

          Cheers,
          Kit

Basic craft materials should be purchasable. Gatherers can still make 95% of their profits, which come from special materials. Otherwise we have a situation where even the most basic of items become an epic quest to craft.

Not to mention Exigo not selling planks of basic wood is horribly unrealistic. Much of Sundren is woodland, and there are hardly any Druids/fey to protect them.

I think the listed difficulty is gnolls and orcs, but I think they get suppressed by adventurers

I agree, add the standard wooden planks. There are way too many buildings in Sundren for the only source of wood to be in monster infested woods. Even low level crafters won't be greatly affected, since they'll be making more money killing mobs. It just means they get wood for free. That's what she said.

Umm, Noril and Rith can between them make about anything in the world that is Sundren out of wood that is required. (Except for dyes, which isn't profitable anyway as the competitive market far outstrips it.)
