  • Silly Transition in the viridale

In the Area "Viridale Border" Lies transitions to the Abandoned fort and the Viridale forest area. They are placed in a way so that once you start heading for Viridale you can practically keep heading east over and over the 3 areas.

I propose that in the "Viridale Border" Area the world map transition and the transition to the abandoned fort be switched with each other. It makes sense to backtrack south around the border of the forest to get to the fort, and the areas would fit much better.

TL;DR: Switch "World Map Transition" with "Abandoned Fort Transition" In area "Viridale Border"

Unless the staff has completely other business and overhauls on the way, this is an easy fix.

I'd go a different way - put the viridale border map in front of the old fort, then begin the hostile spawns at the old fort to show that the creatures of the viridale have expanded out of their old homes.

Doesn't make much sense as is, the viridale critters once had a ring of forts.to keep them penned in, but they haven't moved since the iron ring was abandoned!

now it gets abstract. The compas is fubar in that area in any case. I think we both agree that the viridale could do with a general overhaul, noting the progeession of the area, but this was intended as a quick solution to a silly mechanical issue. There are things much higher on the list i imagne

Agreed. Viridale should be a scary ass place, and not just because of the first-glance hermaphrodite gnolls and their terrifying S&M demon god.

Given their hyenaness it's no wonder they've got that god!

Yeah, plus (more) giant spiders, level draining giant ticks, corrupted spirits, elementals and nasty stuff. Corrupted nymphs with bodies formed from briar's and thorns, mushroom folk who aren't hilariously silly looking (fast mushroom zombies. Man that X-Files episode rocked, maybe somthing The Last of Us ish if we want contemporary).

Ahem, yes. Viridale should be what's its design docs say it should be - near uninhabitable, hostile, monster ridden and al round unpleasant.

I like your ambitions! But could we please just switch the transitions for now. Giant poisonus stuff is just a sm client away you know...

It was changed to the way we wanted it, an outdoor area before the post. Yes, some map directions don't line up, no we aren't remaking every map to fix this (this is the only one).
The very existence of flame-throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.

So it is intentional that you can keep running in a circle, by moving forward? Wierd, but if that's how you want it. It was an old area, tbh it did seem like a quick fix

another easy thing to do would be to remove the transition from the border area that leads to viridal forest, forcing pcs to go through the fort at all times...

but, hey. Peace be wih it.
