  • Reputation and the Scattered Buildings

    Hello,

I was wondering if you could make the various building scattered about Sundren be coded to mirror the flag system for reputation.

I find there are only a few available and there are many people trying to gain a bit of reputation using them. Therefore, it is not very often you can gain reputation by pinning a badge since someone has been there before.

If you code it to the individual, then they would be able to gain some reputation when the timer dictates instead of a lucky time to gain the building.

    Thanks for reading my suggestion.

You know, I thought you were talking about the old burnt out buildings like Viridale Legion camp and Arbiters stand when I read the title ><

The way I see it those Waypoints don't really work the way they were intended? I thought it was supposed to promote a sort of PvP fighting for territory system?

But actually they can claim it then leave the area and it stays claimed. What if it became unclaimed again as soon as the faction that claimed it no longer has players in the area? i.e. they logged off or were killed by opposing faction members

the Guardposts are going to be removed, from my understanding.

From what I see no one is really using the current system in place.

The evidence you put up is kinda contradictory to the modern trend. I constantly see the guardposts being used, the drawback being that in a group of adventurers only one can claim the flag.

Maybe he meant no one using it as intended? Before they implemented it there was a lot of talk and it was supposed to be something factions could fight over.

Ever seen anyone fight over a guardpost....?

"Forward men! Slay the foul vampires and take back the guardpost! For the Emperor!!"

"Emperor my ass! I aint dyin' for no damn shack in the middle of nowhere"

That could be fun in a mixed faction group. Blackwood arm wrestling Legion for the right to claim the guardpost, while the Exigo try to bribe everyone in the party to let them claim it.

What you say about factions fighting over it also sounds sorta like a "tick-based" system. Like for every RL hour one faction has it, the guy who claimed it gets some rep. That would probably require some ceiling limits in case someone were to snag a rarely frequented flag and just rake in the rep.

I haven't gotten around to removing the guard-houses. Long story short, they were a stop gap measure in lieu of having a better system.

Now that quests are going in, more plots are running, more players are around we don't want/need them.

It's true we want to do a faction control system, but it will be different from this, and offer far more depth.
The very existence of flame-throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.
