  • Polymorph/Shapechange Bug

Everyone knows about the bug where if you transition in Polymorph form you crash.

I was just wondering when Polt gets round to making the Pnp spells, any chance a toggle could be added so you could turn polymorph/shapechange on/off for transitions please? Its annoying to have to memorise 5 copies of the spell for every 3 level dungeon. If you have to make too many transitions, you will run out of Polymorph eventually no matter how many you memorise and then death is 99.9999% certain.

Thinking about it, it wouldn't even add any new exploits, since you can cast spells whilst in Poly form already if you feel like being a gigantic cheesemonster (maybe that should be fixed too when the spells get Pnp-fied)

not sure if it is possible due to hard codeing, but could the spell be altered to allow an unlimited amount of times to change shape until the duration of the spell? this would let the user cast his polymorph self spell, come to a transition point, return to his original form, transition, and turn back to what ever scary monster they where before they moved areas.

    just a thought.

This would definitely bring Shapechange up to the p&p definitions:
You can change form once each round as a free action. The change takes place either immediately before your regular action or immediately after it, but not during the action
Also, other than Tenser's, very few p&p polymorph effects prevent the use of spellcasting so long as the form can support the components (ability to speak for verbal and easily manipulated fillangies for somatic)

In addition, after experimenting with Shapechange a bit I've realised some of the forms are vastly underpowererd compared to others.

For example, the giant form's AC is 19 lower than the Horned Devil, and 14 lower than Nightwalker (which has the highest Strength and offensive ability). The Horned Devil also has the most HP and regen, making it the best form in most situations.

        PnP (Pathfinder) challenge ratings:
        Nightwalker CR 16
        Horned Devil CR 16
Iron Golem CR 13 (replace with Mithral Golem CR 16)
Fire Giant CR 10 (replace with Storm Giant CR 13, plus magical weapon +1d6 elec and 1d4 sonic damage?)
Frost Giant CR 9 (replace with Planetar CR 16)

Polymorph is likewise unbalanced, with Troll being the most powerful, Umber hulk in second place and all the others just junk. Maybe the spider could be a Blade spider instead of Sword?

NOTE: For the record, I do not support spellcasting in Polymorph/Shapechanged form. Its super overpowererd. If you could switch at will it wouldn't be OP though, as you'd be leaving yourself wide open to attack whilst in regular form.
