  • More experience? Better rest?

With the lack of players, it's not the easiest getting a group - especially if you want a new character. Additionally, it doesn't help that you have to wait 2 hours to rest fully without going to a fire.

A lot of the good content requires a group for good exp...

    See the problem?

I simply want to suggest that until the numbers are built back up fairly, maybe there could be an increase in exp from monsters? Just an idea :3

Oh and can we possibly go back to resting after 10 Mins to resetting your spells?
    Just an idea!

I don't think they will consider restoring the old rest system, as it was requested many times already. It was designed to make it harder for self-buff casters to steamroll everything and anything.

At any rate, its still possible for EK's/Clerics to do that, they just need to be smart and conservative with spells now.

I for one like it (and I exclusively play spell-casters) as I've noticed big demographic changes since the revamp....more Fighters/Rogues/Pallys, slightly less EK"s and Clerics

As for XP increase from monsters, the cap has already been increased actually, it used to 120xp max for a single monster. I would be all for increased or level-based tick XP though. 708 hours (29 real life days) to get from level 15 to 20 seems a little harsh imo...

I would say just put the rest areas back in the lower level areas (up to level 10) and not back in the higher level areas... ie. Just the Virdale.
Bree - Bookkeeper and diplomat of Exigo.

Becky Dragonhin - Sword of the Loyal Fury, Knight of the Triad... the only Good hin in Sundren???

I wouldn't be against upping experience for lower level players to get in the game. A flat rate all the way to 20 seems wierd... I don't know, I havn't thought about things like this in ages.

Let's just say that if you're not in a group (and sometimes even if you are), gaining XP feels like pulling teeth with a dull, rusty spoon.

Yeah, I know: group up, get company and better xp/min. Tell that to the folks who play when the main player base is working/asleep/plotting world domination and are thus unavailable, or they simply don't have alts around that level range. Alternatively, they could be too shy to ask the big mean vets to step down, hork an alt, and show how nice they really are.

It's no one's fault, really, but a way to make it appealing to level at the start would be nice. A dwindling XP bonus at low levels, starting high but getting lower as you gain more levels before stopping at--say, level 10--would help.

EDIT: Or, for easier scripting, give more XP to the low-leveled critters. Have banners give a chunk of XP to toons below level 20. Ditto clickables that tell a bit of Sundren lore appropriate for the clicky. There's so many ways to mitigate the grind.
But please, keep one thing in mind for me. What have you become when even nightmares fear you?

Just cuz there's ways around a problem doesn't mean it's the best solution. "Group up for better EXP" is a way around a problem of slow farm, but is it the best?

A lot of the mechanics that are present today were implemented when saulus and I were like "We need to be able to login! There's too many players and we're at server cap!"

Grouping was a no brainer. Today it's a different game.

                  Back in May I wrote:

#1. Revert back to the previous XP values: IMO the population was beginning to increase when the XP values were higher, thus allowing an individual to level faster. I cannot prove the causation, but it seemed to me there was a lot of experimentation with new builds during this time period. This is important when the server population is low as it allows you to try out builds that strike your fancy. So what if you dumped the character at 10th level, at least you were on the server and prepared to switch to a character more compatible when others logged on.

The XP values are currently too low IMO. There was some discussion on the forum about people leveling too quickly, which resulted in a reduction in XP values. I commented to a friend outside the game about the reduction and suggested it might discourage new character development for a period until players forget what it was once like.

Please consider the time zone that you play in before dismissing this plea. In the Euro time zone you are predominately on your own. New character development is slow and painful.

                  Cheers!

Where there are issues concerning low population, my feeling is we need enough quests to fill that gap.... not to replace DMs but to supplement the off times so people stay logged in.

I don't think adjusting rest or xp gains will really increase the population or do much to help that. I'm not saying we can't revisit and tweak them, I just don't see it being a major solution to the concerns addressed here.

Quests on the other hand, will.
The very existence of flame-throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.

I agree with Saulus. if I had stuff to actually do, I wouldn't mind at all. But I'm basically stuck waiting for something to do, and if I don't have anything - it's grind or log off.

May I add - the grinding sucks without people >.>
