  • Armiger Class

Think this may ever happen? =>

I really like this, and it's definitely possible.

However, we have a Stalwart Defender PrC. Would you all rather that be retooled to mimic Arminger abilities, or have a new base class added in?

Stalwart Defender is definitely a battlefield control class in Pen and Paper, and that doesn't translate so well to NWN2, where you can just walk around someone.

I had this long post and it got cancelled because of connection error... -.-
Oh well, anyway, I think that both could co-exist. The stalwart defender, being a prestige class, could be used to give a "defensive theme" to classes that are not very focused on defense per se (like the ranger or sorcerer, if someone wants to try a hybrid build,), whereas the Armiger could be the "dedicated" class for those who want to make survivability their main focus since the beginning. And this of course keeping in mind that the Figher/Stalwart defender build would have much higher melee ability/damage than the Armiger.
But in the end, I think it would boil down as to how you implement the Armiger (if it's ever gonna be added), for example the Stalwart defender is quite a bit different from the Pathfinder version, it's pretty much the D&D dwarven defender without the racial requirement.
And it's also very important how "aggro" is handled in this game (to be frank, I've yet to understand it), because if the enemies just laugh at the armiger, and bypass him to go hit his team mates, then it would end up being an almost useless class.
Just my two cents. (And this time I'm copy-pastying this message :P)

Google Lazarus Form Recovery. It's a plugin for Firefox, IE, and Chrome that automatically saves everything you type into forms (which included forum posts!) and puts it all back in if your close out on accident, or click the back button.

Also, fair enough. There's really nothing too special in the class. If this goes in though, DMs will not relevel anyone. You'll be able to remake, per existing rules.

The Arminger has a d12 hit die, but 5's and lower count as 6's for hit point generation on level. NWN2 uses max hp.

A d12 avg is 6.5hp per level, Armingers have 7.75hp per level. A d14 would give 7.5hp per level, and a d15 would give 8hp per level, on average.

NWN2-wise, it would give the max roll. I'm just looking at translating the mechanics. I'm inclined to go with a d15, which would give 300hp at lvl 20 + (con mod * 20), which is 100hp more than a fighter at lvl 20, and 60hp more than a barbarian at level 20.

        A d14 would give 280hp at 20, 80hp more than a lvl 20 fighter, and 40hp more than a barbarian.

        d14 might be more reasonable.

I think a high AC class with a d12 is plenty reasonable.

Wow. I actually think that is an incredibly cool class! Some of those features would be hard to do, and certainly with so many features the class would take a long time to implement.

Actually, they're all straightforward. Just get rid of the talents that can't be done and there are 8 regular talents (12 if you count all the Resist variants), and 4 advanced talents. Since you get 3 normal talents, and 4 normal or advanced talents, players will have plenty to choose from.

I would need to make some changes though.
              • Bulwark: Allies within 10' gain +4 AC
              • Reflect: I'm not adding/remvoing imp evasion with armor equips, but a big Ref bonus when wearing heavy armor is doable. Could base it on AC, Armor Check Penalty, or Class levels
              • Citadel: Bulwark gives +4 AC and +2 Reflex
              • Picket: Rename, standard action to gain atk/dmg bonus for 9 seconds
              • Safeguard: Few ways to do this
                • Take all damage that would be applied to an ally so long as they remain within 10ft
                • Spells that target your target are redirected to target you
                • Combination of the two
              • Shield Saint: The other things are too complicated, but immunity to Crit/Sneak is just fine

Also, although they're a very tanky class, they have Medium BAB and none of the fighter weapon trainings or masteries, or even bonus feats. They have 7 class bonus feats over 20 levels, and although they can take some combat feats, they're all defensive oriented.

I suppose the allowing a crossbow and shield is not happening? How about the attack bonus (similar/same as fighter weapon training) with polearms and crossbows, provided you take the feat. If you take the Polearm variant you get the monkey grip feat as well.

Shield saint seems pretty similar to defensive roll. Not sure if there is really anywhere to go with that.

I would love to see this implemented. I would also love to see the scout, marshal, hexblade, and the knight put in. Sadly I do not know what it takes to put a class in. Just wishful thinking.

As cool as this is - I would rather see the remaining classes get pathfinderized before we make something brand new.

If the staff decides to add this class I would ask that they do so in addition to Stalwart Defender and not a replacement for it.
                        Cheers!

Good that its 3/4AB. Abilities are more like a defensive 'marshall' than a DD

I personally think that if a dev is willing to keep pumping out new material interspersed with all the pathfinderizing of classes he's already doing, we should just let him do that. Armiger looks like a solid class, and it sounds as if it wouldn't be that hard for Polt to implement it, so I'm all for him adding it.
