I would like to see a wall of disjunction when entering the portal room. and maybe even a permanent zone of revelation. ((sorry guess this should go in suggestions...))

I don't think it needs such dramatic things sitting there, it just needs to be handled the same way as the temples - Consider the places sneak free and don't assume the guards do nothing at all.

Having a giant wall of magic destruction right next to the giant door of spacial connection is just asking for trouble.
