Was just thinking, I bet there are some people out there who have an epic character, are actually bored of playing the same toon and want to start a new one, but feel that they've devoted too much time to that character to quit. Could we make the reward a bit cooler?
Someone suggested to me the other day that when you retire an epic character, a unique artifact bearing their name be added to the game world. It should be slightly more powerful than something you can craft ingame.
For example, each level over 20 would allow the player to add one property:
So, Perry the Paladin, Level 22, could make his +3 Holy flaming sword into a +4 Sword and increase the holy damage to 1d8.
Archibald the Archmage, Level 21, could make his Ring of Archmagi grant +6 Intelligence, or allow it to cast Magic Missile at will.
These items would then be awarded by DM's, or found in extremely high level loot drops, perhaps this Abyss the Devs have been talking about? (but they would have to be unique items, which might be hard if they drop?). I think this would be a great incentive to retire a epic character, and at the same time add a lot of flavour to Sundren
Those guys who reach epic level have devoted a lot to their characters stories and I think it would be neat if they could have their name immortalised

- Stat bonus +4, or increase current stat bonus by 2
- Increase enhancement bonus by 1
- +4 to a single save, or increase current save bonus by 2
- Increase damage of special property by one die (e.g.Flaming +1d4 --> Flaming 1d6
- Cast a 4th level spell 2/day, 3rd level 3/day, 2nd level 5/day or 1st at will
