  • Ressing Incentive

I was reading a post about a character corpse takes weeks or months to find and res. I think the problem is not finding their corpses, but caring enough to res them. I mean why should they? They have to spend 800 of their own coins to help someone else. What i purpose is faction rep reward for raising the dead. For example, if you raise a blackwood member, you will get blackwood rep. I would say limit the times you can get rep rewards for ressing the same person or from same factiin to once a week to prevent abuse.

I support this! I dont even think the limitations need to be that tight, mainly because if people really want to abuse it, they'd have to find somebody willing to die for them over and over.

      Interesting suggestion.

Something like 5-10 rep gain for a res, once a day/week. Pulling the numbers out of thin air, so more reasonable ones are better.
But please, keep one thing in mind for me. What have you become when even nightmares fear you?

I'm normally all for more draconian ways of killing players and so on, but I really like this suggestion.

Perhaps have the rep received scale in relation to the rank of the person being raised as well, with an extra bonus for resing people within your own faction.

While the intent is good, I could see some problems: like people with a bunch of money raiding the Sestra graveyard and raising everyone there for the rep-grind. Statistically, it would end up little better than the previous donation-system, if someone had enough corpses

Addendum: the player being ressed has to authorize the rep gain, and said player will not grant rep gains to ressers on future raises for the rest of the day (until daily server reset).

Or, just only allow rep gains for raising amember of your own faction?

Or add a flag to corpses retrieved from the sarcophagi that prevents rep gain from them - Only corpses found in the field.

Sounds great! I really hate having to scuffle around the same bodies always. You'd think a gnoll would eat them. The only reason that I've never ressed anybody was because I didn't know/liked them IC.

What do you imply? Corpses end up in the sestran graveyard at some point? really? After a server reset?

A lot of players pick up the bodies they stumble upon and lug them to the Jergalite mausoleum in Sestra for storage, myself included. It's more respectful than just letting them rot in the mud and likewise makes them easier to find, compared to running around looking for someone in the wilderness.

Ah. Sometimes I see my body in 'sarcophagus' when I ping it from the fugue. This is because someone had the curtesy to log me around? didn't know that was a thing.

There is also am automatic script that transports bodies there from certain areas.

I like the piles of bodies in certain areas! I think it warns newbies "This area is dangerous! Be careful!"

Then again, this sounds like a great way to gain rep.

I approve. (Reincarnation should definately be in the druid spell book as well; I would love to see Dain walking around as a gnome)

Like the 3 corpses that's been lying for a month in the entrance to the spittlefist caves? One of them is named Chrixxis Thornblade or somesuch. I first saw the corpse, while doing the caves with a Char called Chrixxis Thornhammer(a character I haven't seen since). I'm not gonna go to great lengths raising a level 3 kamikaze character that's getting rerolled after the first death.

I did try to put the corpses further into the cave, since I thought it looked like a joke having them lying at the entrance. But they turned up at the entrance afterwards. Is there a script to please corpses at the entrance to dungeons?
