    • A bard built to fight is absolutely terrifying to behold.

That said, you can't please everybody. Make a niche character, and you end up having to work with the niche. That's why it's niche, though a niche dungeon catered to niche builds would be...interesting.

      ...

and now "niche" is no longer a word for me
But please, keep one thing in mind for me. What have you become when even nightmares fear you?

      • Personally I think the creatures are designed quite well considering that what we're playing is based off a turn-based game. In Pnp you can withstand being hit for 150 damage per round as you have all the time in the world to drink a potion, run away (with only ONE attack of opportunity for doing so) or be healed/shielded/rescued by allies.

High damage low hp mobs might be nice in minority but I definitely wouldn't like to see them become a staple.

        • I would mind seeing a mix of High Damage/Low Hitpoint mobs with mobs as they are. Like walking into a Boss Room, he has High HP/ Medium Damage, enough to be a threat by himself and it takes the entire team to kill in coordination, but then he's surrounded by High Damage/Low HP mobs that you have to clear out before hand. Choosing priority.

          • Immature Glacial Drake questions (Possible spoiler))

There's a red-named spawn called: "Immature Glacial Drake" in the beginning of the areas of mountains. The other night I was injured 10hp or so by it, and failed a DC 26 poison check - Killing me outright with no server message apart from "Immature Glacial Drake kills My'athvin Simaryl"

Is this intentional? I asked Mournas, and he was a bit baffled. I had 103hp atm. I have a screenie somewhere, I'll supply if need be.

(A search for immature glacial drake on the forums brings up a RP post about Drake Sellent. Go figure)

            • It has Wyvern poison which does pretty heavy CON damage. That likely dropped your HP down and the damage from the attack killed you. Its a single spawn, very out of the way, red-level enemy with a decent chance to drop magic loot so it is intentionally a danger to try to take on by yourself.

              • The Wyvern poison should be 2d6 or 2d8 CON damage if memory serves.

                • It is pretty heavy, Sari fought it and she is an assassin and the poison still worked on her, taking more then half of her con and health from 120 to 54 (lvl 18 at the time she fought it). And she had a Paladin healing her during this fight.

I know it was not any kind of whine. I've just never experienced anything like it. There wasn't any poison applied, not any CON damage applied. Just my PC being killed by the critter. I think it's fairly balanced, apart from the fact that I can kite it without greater danger - apart from the poison apparently! I think I maybe asked because if there's a DC 26 poison that can auto-kill, then I'd better go get some...

Compared to the Purple worm which I had the pleasure of running into the other day: a single hit can take as much as 15 STR. But there I get the penalty, the poison applied, the works. AFAIK getting a stat down to 0 brings death in PNP, but is it only CON in nwn2?

EDIT: Thanks for moving it. Makes a lot of sense.

I think zero CON isn't an instant kill unless you're d4 HP in NWN2. I remember getting zonked down on the old veritas mountain gas traps to zero and walking out with 20 HP or so. If you had d4 HD you could die since it was -4 modifier per dice. Might have to check again.

NWN2 doesn't properly apply zero-stats, but simply what the stat affects often makes it mighty hard to be any sort of effective. However, spells that modify stats negatively usually have a stipulation that they don't drop a stat below 1 though. Poisons are different though, and happily cause damage all they like. And Crippling Strike should technically be able to make even the highest strength fighters <helpless> given a good flanking team.

If players could use it it'd probably be DC 16 or something similar :P Like how enemies have DC 38 on-hit effects but the best players can get is 18.

Our saves at high level range from +12 to anywhere up to +30. I think the problem is that players actually need some better DC items not that monsters need a tone down. On the contrary, I love that the Wyvern is a scary Fort save to non-warriors. Just like the Abyssal Corrupters are a (albeit less so) significant Will save to warriors, and the traps in Argyle are a significant Reflex save to non-rogues.

                          • I just did the new glazier area that leads into IWD with my lvl 20th ranger. I had to retreat as the Green-marked Skeletons named "Cold Bones" hits hard and has very good spot/listen scores.

My suggestion is to name and color them something else than the Cold Bones spawn you meet at the undead ruins and by the destroyed mansions other places on the mountain. They are far superior to these spawns.

I certainly expect it to be!! But that will never stop me from trying it out anyway, and dying. It was just the labelling of the spawns I suggested changed.
