  • Dungeon: Mossdale -Temple of Shargaas

Party Composition: 20th Level Dwarven Defender

Feedback: I walked into the Temple of Shargaas and was hit by a lethal trap that did 129 points of damage. While I stood there in disbelief... all hell broke loose and a battalion (exaggeration) of skeletons and other foul creatures spawned beat me like a circus monkey.

Now I fully appreciate the fact this area is not be solo'd by a 20th level no matter how good we think are tactics to be.

    Cheers!

    • Dungeon: Mushroom cave

      Party: 1 lvl 9 Rogue/Ranger

The spawns in the first level of the dungeon are far better, tougher and yield more xp. The white spawns in the first level are 32 xp and have 10 AB. The ones in the second level are 7 AB and 8 xp. Thats somewhat of a difference. The green one gives me 12 xp, and the queen is 48.

I'm a bit high level for the dungeon, but the 10 AB white spawns were a nice challenge. I'm not sure what it's to be, really. Seems my feedback about the first level were heeded, but I don't fit with the second level.

      • Dungeon: Mirakus Mines

        Party: Lvl 10 Rogue/ranger

The white spawns (vermin and base mutant) are nice and challengic, but the brutes are really wicked. I heard somewhere Mirakus is for lvl 12 characters, so I'm not saying they should be easier, but maybe they should have a red or blue color code? The difference between a white and a green monster in the same mob/spawn is far smaller in any other critter that I've battled so far.

Or is this just a trend that I'm slowly getting at?

        • sewers

          Party: 1 Level 18 character

Dungeon: Sundren City "storm water drainage system"

Feedback: I like that there are now the blue spawns (the cubes), but I can see them being a little tough for lower leveled guys, or do they only spawn for someone my level?

Anyway, they regenerate damage from piercing weapons almost instantly, so I decided I'd use up my scrolls of Arc of Lightning (A 5th level spell) which at the most scratched them, and they also seemed to regenerate that damage straight away.

If I hadn't had a dimension door handy I would have died for sure (slowly, over and hour or two) as I was trapped between the two blue-named gelo cubes.

I'm assuming they can only be hurt by slashing weapons? So now if you want to survive it is obligatory to carry a slashing weapon around as well weapons made of Cold iron, Silver, Adamantine, Maztican Fairy Wood etc etc

          • I'm going to nerf the hell out of the sewer spawns. Its the lowest level dungeon on the server. Everything should have close to single digit Hit points.

FYI, the Green Gray Oozes in there have 20+ HP, and 5/(something) DR. =X

                • Party : Epic level cleric and buffed summon

                  Dungeon: Ixis

The monsters were no match of course and thankfully the dispell traps were gone.
The loot was nice. 1 amesthyst, 5 phenalopes, ice mephit, 2 dragon bloods, 1 cursed ruby, defensive chainmail, chilling sickle of minor fort, a rez signus and generous gold.
Well worth the trip and easily recovered the cost of the boat ride.
The dart trap was getting through my buffs and causing minor damage.

On the way out I picked up several aventurines and a cursed emerald, another dragons blood and a few lesser drops of low value.
The spawns seem to reset quickly.
Total gold gathered during a trip in and out and after selling loot would be ~8500.
Not bad for a single trip and lucky loot drops.

                  • I agree with Redjack. Ixis has become a great place to go. It is a lot of fun and well worth the transportation costs.

I still think the Temple of Shargaas is a little too much. I went back there with my 20th Level Dwarven Defender and was quickly sent to the fugue, again. But this time I paid better attention to the spawns. Best I can figure is that all of the spawns that one would encounter when entering the temple in the first three sections (first large room, hallway, past the first door and to the left where the Necromancer was...) all spawn at once immediately upon triggering the deadly trap found in the first doorway.

It wouldn't be that bad if some of these NPC were visible upon entering the Temple so you could use tactics and draw them into a channeled fight in the doorway. As it stands they only spawn after hitting the trap...and then all at once.

                    Cheers.

                    • I've also found mossdale to be incredibly difficult. Much harder then pre update. I've been afraid to even attempt the temple of grummsh after the temple of shargass.

                      • I'd like to see someone do a run through the Necropolis, I know the secret doors aren't working but just to test out how far you can go, you will need to beat the first puzzle which is what I've heard there has been difficulty doing in the past.

I don't really want to alter the puzzle, I much rather just make it rewarding enough to use.
The very existence of flame-throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.

                        • I was told that the encounter just after the puzzle was supposed to drop a piece of armor belonging to a set, but in the dozen or so times I beat that encounter, it never dropped anything. I've only ever seen that set when a DM has just given it to a PC.

I'm not aware that this is the case. The armor set is just part of the random loot drops you have a chance to find in chests and less frequently on higher level enemies.

                            • Also there's an alternative path to just bypass the puzzle through one of the crypts that I found when I playtested as a PC.

I can't speak to after the update, but before the update, no element of that armor dropped in the 2.5 years prior.
