Many times do you create a piece of armor through the crafting system and it comes out looking different than what was on the wooden dummy completely wasting valuable mats. If I can forge my armor then wouldn't it be possible to smelt it back down? Even if I lose some of the Mats, at least its not a complete loss. Worst feeling ever - wasting about 18000 gold on crafting and dying a suit of Mithril Full Plate and it looks messed up on your character.
