The downside of everyone being hostile all the time would be all the unintentional PvP. Would be funny, maybe the first time.

The solution isn't everyone being hostile to everyone all the time - That's just a personal pipedream!

Just think, a world where Paladin/Blackguard Auras actually had an effect on people of the outside of combat, or where Ice Furies actually had to think about the consequences of being so cold they'll kill commoners within a couple of minutes.

Alas, I'll just have to dream.

while It cant not always happen this way. If your gonna go out, to pvp and have a small idea of who your gonna run into, set them hostile a head of time. Nothing wrong with having people hostile because you might fight and it not happen. Or Rp with them first and during that interaction set hostiles giving them time to know there is a fight but not BUff in front of you if that happens attack. All pvp all the time is semi what sudren is, does not mean we all cant brush up on our "im going to kills you etiquette."

Yevelian's situation isnt so rare when your playing an anti-hero ora rogue. So times you cant talk or shadowdance your way out of things. It gets messy quickly.

It is more common than some think. I have been handed my butt more than thrice this way, not just as Kirk either. Depending on how far ahead a meat shield gets from his party. Sometimes invisible people pop out of no where, sometimes they are trailing a half a mile behind an excitable dwarf.
