I just wanted to ask, if it were possible to change the period for renting rooms from days to hours. Most people just need to pop in and out to give something in the storage and if it is needed to be used for RP, you can purchase the room for the time needed or stay there a bit longer. It's uncomfortable, if somebody needs something from the chest and has to run about and be lucky to find some empty room. If not, please at least dissable the possiblity to rent the room for the whole week, I doubt the guys who are using this rentals are actually using them so offen, so they couldn't use the hour rents. I can imagine the situation, when somebody wants to spend a romantic evening in some luxurious inn, like Comfort Inn in Sundren, but can't because of ther three pernament users. I don't mean that in a bad way, but it should be inns not house of flats.

Hey there caterpillar,
Previous suggestions have been more rooms, or a public-storage utility somewhere: http://www.sundren.org/forum/showthread.php?t=18355. This thread might best be attached on to that or one of the other threads on this topic.

Yep, but it would be probably easier to make change from the days to hours, then to build some new inns, I think that would be very quick change. Why is an option to rent a room for one real week there, it makes no sence, no player is 24/7 in the game. Even for one day, means real day as a lowest possible option, is too much. For example one hour for me would be sufficient in the case I need to use the chest. I just pop in and out and block the room for the rest of the real day for no use. That's what I meant. And for RP, of course rent it for couple of hours, again I don't see the reason to make it the whole real day, who spends real 24 hours in an inn in Sundren, even RPing, seriously needs some help. Huh? what does this mean? As for the time frame, it is actually based on the elapses of the scheduled server resets and changing the time would require a little work, possibly more than making a public box in the bank for example however. The previous threads on this topic I believe have substantial suggestions.
The Dev team have approached this subject on those threads, and perhaps we will be pleasantly surprised with the second sundering, what is definite is that they have said no further changes will be effected until after the Second Sundering is complete. I would point you to one of the many threads that was posted on, but having little to no sleep I can't really see straight enough to do that.Ghal Narish, Battle-Mage

Also there was some "new crafting system" rumour for few months-years, but as Saulus wrote "crafting is far from a priority", which means what it means, again no angry words, just reality.
Added: just experiences from other servers, you actually lose the key each time you leave the pub, which is kinda logic. You can spend as long time as you wish there, once you leave the pub, the key's automatically gone.Kili - mercenary of the Blackwood Company

Singing Hound - I like that one! Hope I hear it IC.
Dain's long been moved out of Room One of the Comfort, although Emiliana still maintains Room Three, and RP happens there on a daily basis.
I'll agree that there ought to be more inn rooms or a way for people to have storage elsewhere (such as the Temple of Waukeen that's been suggested in the past.) I don't agree with lowering rent-times to an hour, though. That'd just needlessly complicate things IMO.

I added above, that there could be something, what could remove the key as soon as you leave the inn itself, something like touching the doors leading outside or something, because inns should be inns, when the traveller needs a room there should be something available, not always, but generally yes. In my eyes it is odd, when there are four people online and you have to run about to find only one free room up in the Spine, that's just crazy. And those are my almost last words!Kili - mercenary of the Blackwood Company

A lot of people share your sentiment caterpillar but the as the Dev team has stated they are tied up with the approach of a major update. I am sure, or at least I hope, they will get around to this eventually but they are all volunteers and do get to put their priorities first.Ashard Velmont - Gentleman scoundrel

Room 1 in the Comfort belongs to Lasvi and I use it everyday for dropping off excess crafting materials in the chest. Very little rp happens in there, but that's mostly because she maintains it as the one place people don't go to find her.
There's always the solution to have persistent storage moved to a simple group of chests in the Waukeenite temple. Because I'm too stupid to read properly this morning.
Besides, would you really want to live in the same room that Dain may have used? It took me two weeks just to sterilize the sheets.

rent by the hour? Darius only needs five minutes with Sile (For Smiting)
To contribute. I've seen many a people use them for valid roleplay, some just for much needed storage, but perhaps some happy combination of extended and short lived renting durations?
But as Kasso posted, perhaps a good change is inbound already."Its not the end of the world, but you can see it from here." -Eliza

I knew it were not my last words! Attempt two.
It's not only about the chests. If you have some RP reason to use the inn like a private conversation, spying on neighbours, make a party you can't, because the inn is so called "full", all three empty rooms. I understand that some guys consider "their" rooms theirs, but seriously, if you want to do some of the actions mentioned above, you either have to find some bushes or tell your partner, well lets try few cities to try to have private conversation or party.Kili - mercenary of the Blackwood Company

Anywho, solutions are inbound on the subject regarding chests anyways, the Lathanderite temple already has something keyed to that tune, if my updated version ever gets uploaded.Aesa Volsung - Uthgardt Warrior

I understand that some people like the idea of basically owning a room, but imo the rent should be changed from the maximum of 2 weeks to a maximum of 1-3 days, leaning towards 3. This would minimize the problem of finding an inn room, since players will have to keep on top of rent payments. The problem as I see it is that people will rent a room for 2 weeks and only use it maybe 5-6 times. If it weren't for the 2 week rental period I don't think we need more rooms.Dalian - Shapeshifter of the Tuatha Dé Dúlra

I'm with Kasso on the inn rooms, I understand why some people like them but I dislike them for the same reason I dislike player owned private housing (that and memories of Ultima Online, vast tracts of land all laid out with grids of identical houses).
A rejigg of the inn interiors might help, with some inns offering more in the way of semi private areas (The Sundren Comfort in the Military Ward might greatly benifit from having some kind of meeting room) and communal bunk rooms (The Four Lanterns would be a good site for that, lots of bunks and chests that everyone can share for a minimal cost) with a small amount of inns retaining private rooms that have a greatly reduced renting period. It is the greatest of all mistakes to do nothing because you can only do a little - Do what you can.
