I rather liked the challenge of the previous death system and thought I would make a suggestion here. Not that I expect any action to be taken, however it might be interesting rather than just waiting a timer out and being able to raise yourself in a short conversation to possibly have an area where you fight and solve a few random riddles or puzzles in order to escape the Fugue while retaining the possibility of being raised by other players. This might be better if set at like level 15+ however it would add a certain dynamic to death that would be less dismissed off handed.

I dislike seeing death treated as a casual inconvenience and won't treat it as such in an event. That means no resurrections for common people only those touched by fate (IE: Players and longstanding NPCs) and players 'killed' will only tend to be knocked out unless they do something stupid or unsavable, in which case hello death, goodbye respawning. More than one player has been treated to a "If you die during this course of action you will be tagged permadead" while attempting to do something suitably outrageous (only after they've started it of course. No point clouding someones RP style with OOC preambles).
That said, I'd rather not see death made more serious through adding hoops to jump through to respawn. Given time most challenges and puzzles will be encountered several times and become nothing more than simple, irritating click-dialogue sessions. DEV time would be much better spent elsewhere.
If people want to make death mean something then it should be done via RP.It is the greatest of all mistakes to do nothing because you can only do a little - Do what you can.

So as a young lad, I saved up my money to buy a game for my NES: Chip and Dale: Rescue Rangers. First game I ever bought.
My older brother did the same thing. His game: Battletoads.
There was an old TV show called Video Power where contestants would compete in video game-related contests, and it included trivia. One category of questions had the contestants listen to music and identify what game it was from.
So they play Battletoads music. Kid buzzes in and says Battletoads. Like, the fucking level 1 music. Host says he's wrong. Both kids sit there looking fucking shocked. Time passes, host says, "Correct answer was Chip and Dale: Rescue Rangers." I was that German kid smashing his keyboard.
I <3 Battletoads.
On topic:
How about some NPCs to talk to, spirits or some such that talk about Sundarian history and major events?Originally posted by CornutoGlad everyone's being extra fucking ridiculous today.

Minimizing the game and reading the wiki for about 5 minutes does the trick, too. Done it several times."We must not believe the man, who say that only free people ought to be educated, but we should rather believe the philosophers who say the only the educated are free." -Epictetus
