  • Official insignias

I don't know if any faction has something like this, but when I meet someone lets say from Legion, there is no way to verify it, even if the other side wanted to. Some kind of faction ring, insignia etc that could be shown to other person in barter window would go a long way.

    Here, Here!

Insignias would be a great boon. I know that some factions have items like that, the Black Tax Coin being one of them. But a token of trust that you can show to someone to prove you are a legitimate authority sounds like a good and flawless plan. There is totally no way this will be utilized by the underworld elements in Sundren for nefarious purposes. Or by nefarious porpoises.

I would totally want to see a porpoise with a monocle, mustache, and top-hat using a stolen legion insignia. That would be awesome.

    Cheers,
    Kit

Now you totally ruined my flawless naive plan! Now I see every bad guy having one Corpse de Grace, Legion and Hand of Mundus insignia just in case.... . Maybe make them steal-proof, and hard to replicate? By magic? Donnae know .. i am just common soldier after all

A warrant card of some kind might be fun, something that could be forged, but not easily.

The more I think about it, the more I like it.

Definitely something to discuss amongst the staff.

              Whoo, nefarious porpoises!

As well as a potential use for the Forgery skill.
I approve! Not that my approval mattered

The Black Hand has this, and I've found it incredibly irritating that someone can't stalk them to their base. . . because they teleport, and the front door is locked after being located behind 12 or 13 really difficult areas. As opposed to sitting hidden next to a door in Sestra and waiting for someone to leave it open. Just sayin

Cesar once purchased an item from another player. A precondition of the sale was that he be a member of the Arbiter's Alliance. I arrived and began RP'ing my bona fides... eventually the other player sent me a tell and asked me to "appraise" the CdG faction key given to me when I joined the faction. To this day this is how I verify someone's affiliation. I believe all factions use similiar keys.
                Cheers!

Em has an item named "Salararius Badge" (as most everyone who knows her well has seen me spam the appraise of a gazillion times - thanks, Philospher! ) and now a Centurio thingamajig.

I'm not exactly opposed to insignias, but neither do I see the need to create a bunch of different items for all the factions to use when someone IDing his/her faction armor should suffice in most cases. Only DMs can use the DMFI to rename things, so appraising "Legion Tirones Chainmail" is just as authentic as "Legion ID Badge."

The Triad and Helmites don't have a keyed area, and thus no keys. I don't think the Exigo do, either.

Triads and Helmites could appraise their Paladin Spa passes... But, the Exigo folks look like they are out in the cold. Perhaps a faction token that can't be sold is in order.

                      Cheers.

Do you have a faction item of any sort that says "Legion" on it, though? Like I said in my previous post, players cannot use the DMFI to rename items, so a valid way to show rank could be as follows:

Wary Adventurer: "Legion, eh? You don't look like no Legionnaire I've ever seen."

Dutiful Legionnaire: "As you can see, upstanding Sundren citizen whose rights I highly value, I am wearing standard issue Legion armor denoting my rank as a Sesqua... Sesquip... " *pause* "...look, I'm official, okay?" Appraise Item: Legion Full Plate.

...now if you're trying to say that you're a Centurio when you're a newly-enlisted Tirones, then I think Bluff would come into play at that point.

Again, I'm not exactly opposed to faction ID items, but the above is a viable alternative in the meantime.

There are some chars who get no use from any/most of the faction items. I have several chars that do not, however with the Legion, I think 90% or more at least use the armor. ((Or craft their own and name it appropriately.)). I think insignia would be very cool to see. Something like the Ebon Coin uses, set to only be used at a certain Rank. They can add +skills, such as a Legion badge adding Intimidate. It makes a lot of sense, think of how you would feel is a guy walks up and flashes a police badge in your face.. You're going to want to cooperate.
