I did not mean to indicate changes in gear so that melee or any other types can solo dungeons. I posted earlier on another topic about my DD who had the highest ac, hp, and damn good ab, but when he hit the temple, he was stunned, then paralyzed, and then burned to death. The clerics survived....he was not soloing.

Also, changing the rest rules do change the dynamics of the game, IMO. Clerics and others may not be willing to share buffs anymore because they require backup spells to make it all the way through an area, thus the melee type is again vulnerable. And, who said it was a Mage or clerics job to just be a buff monkey anyway?

As to low magic, some nice items that provide magic resistance already exist, you just have to be very high up in the factions to be able to purchase them and then use them.

IMO, when you have the ability to either buy +3 stuff or enchant up to 4 stuff, the world isn't necessarily low magic anymore. The best solution I think is what DM Cornuto indicated with balancing areas.

Another side effect may be super fast grinding in order to get in and out as soon as possible before buffs wear off, since you will not be able to rest. Just some possible things that could happen with the current changes.

Casters are going to have to stock up on scrolls and use them to buff parties. You can no longer depend on your memorized spells. Since wizards get the scribe scroll feat for free, it's just a question of cash for them. Divine casters would need to invest the feat. And the party will have to cough up the dough to cover their expenses.

Of course, this would be more feasible if scribe scroll created scolls at the caster level of the caster that created the scroll instead of some arbitrary level. It should be a simple change to the OnSpellCastAt script for the blank scroll, though it would be time consuming to create the necessary blue prints for all the caster levels of all the spells.

Oops, I guess I am wandering off topic, sorry!

As an arcane caster with both Scribe Scroll and Craft Wand, I will not use either for anything that has actual value (not simple convenience) to a group. I use Wands of Dimension Door and Benign Transposition because they are one-shot spells that have no values altered by caster level. Caster Level is the problem with scrolls and wands in NWN2 - since they have random, often low caster levels, they are not worth the cost of making or using. And, as stated before on magic items, redoing an entire system of items is unlikely to happen due to how time-consuming a process it is.

Reinamar Stormseeker - The bladestorm that must turn back the wind. Arkerym of The People, practitioner of the forgotten art, pariah.

Tyler Penleigh - Obligatory author insert, Red Blade Defender, sarcastic jerk, caring brother, loving fiancé, war criminal.

        Retired/Dead
Eirimil Gaelazair (Dead)- Bitter. Caustic. Abrasive. Egocentric. Probably right. Found dead in the burned-out Viridale forest a few weeks after the survivors were able to sweep the area after the Bloodmaim offensive. Aside from his usual attire, an intricate music box was the only thing in his possession.

Umm, you had SR, it was a matter of luck, really and said cleric running away and waiting for you to die as pulling your corpse out was safer than pulling you out... sorry about that.

I think this post has reached it's end, everyone. As of right now, the staff will not be restricting people playing clerics. Expect good things soon to come to address the matter of balance and all that good stuff.
