If the intent is to let people with high spot 'mark' a hiding person, then bullets/arrows/darts are the way to go.
I like the idea. Possibly use a dart: simple thrown weapon, usable by basically everyone and not requiring another weapon to throw it with.
If it can be crafted using alchemy, so much the better! (but I doubt that last part)

The traps would probably end up being used by sneakers (who can get [Set Trap]), against sneakers (who can detect the traps and poss. [Disable Device]), and would likely just get a bunch of random people pretty colours.

I like it, I'd additionally have the light spell be able to target a hostile creature and apply a -20 to -50 to their hide skill.
If we are applying circumstance modifyers to Light spells, can we get circumstance modifyers for Darkness and Silence? And Darkness should dispel Light, as per PNP, otherwise once someone pops a 20 hour light on your head, yours pretty screwed.

I'm not really wanting to mess with making people easier or harder to detect at the moment, but rather making it possible to reveal someone in stealth mode to others in the event that they are detected.

Right now its kind of impossible.

I don't suppose it would be possible to make a 0-radius Zone of Revelation on hit Dart, would it?
As far as i'm aware, thats the main thing that can kick people out of stealth, and prevents them from doing so for a while afterwards, kinda like glowing paint might.

I think giving them an absurd AB modifier would be nice as well. I can see it now.

"Look everyone, sneakers are afoot!" Throws dart at character, but misses.
          "Where?!"
          "Hang on . . . I missed."

If it was an AoE, any person in the game could just spam-toss the things and have a relatively high chance of detecting a HiPSing rogue, which doesn't seem entirely fair.
The upside to making an area effect device rather than bullets/arrows/darts would be to enable someone with a high listen check to utilize the device as well. Downside as mentioned would be someone spamming areas with them.

I can see that it should probablty ignore AC, but as a touch attack, rather than instant-hit: throwing glowing alchemical paint darts at people would really not matter if you hit their armor, but they can certainly try to dodge. Most people who you would be using it on tend to have a decent bit of reflex, but once they lose that, they come to a significant disadvantage.

I was thinking it as being more of a tool to allow players to point out a hidden character their character has spotted. OOC Darts, almost.

What about using it within the Spot / Listen skill roll functionality? I know there are some skills that will work when you are targeting someone. You could have it force them out of stealth mode. And, if you can target them, it means you can already hear / spot them...

That would basically make anyone with blindsight, a decent listen score, and a pack of darts into a walking Zone of Revelation. While I don't actually have a problem with that, I do think it shouldn't be impossible to avoid.

See Invisibility of some form or another, Blindsight tends to be the preffered spell, what what I've observed.

Sounds like we're combining two different types of "I can't see'ums" into one proposed solution.

                          a) Someone who is hiding
A person who spots or hears someone that is hiding should be able to point them out to nearby folks. If Person A sees or hears Person B, could they use a UI skill roll to point them out and add like +10 or 15 to Person C, D, and E (add the spot or listen skill bonus temporarily to anyone within 15' of Person A)?

                          b) Invisible folks could be splashed with paint bombs like the tool described above. I don't think it would apply to those hiding. It could function as a simple dispel of invisibility affect, with some VFX. Maybe a reflex save involved, because armor doesn't really capture avoiding paint. The paint's goal isn't to pierce the armor

All that being said, I agree with Super Secret Identity Cornuto Man that it seems pretty low in priority compared to the other stuff on the plate.
