  • Planar binding

I know that summons have been worked on already. The summons 1-9 were changed, but the Planar Binding spells were left behind. The current summons are a bit underpowered for their respective spell levels. Fore example: As an evil char, for a level 8 spell you get a level 9 outsider. I don't necessarily think those summons need to be different beings, but at the very least get a bit of a boost to level.

It would just be nice if our lovely planar allies were a bit more useful. I would also love to see a much stronger version for Good aligned chars, something that could offset the power of the DK perhaps. That is just my opinion though..

Sounds reasonable. They are pretty sucky atm, only good for flavour at the moment. What's the DK?

Death Knight would be my guess.

Yes, greater undead. As a same level spell, doing basically the same thing, I think they should be more balanced. Not everyone likes skeletons.

Yes, but my point was that the Planar summons should at least be in the same league.

Perhaps they should, though I do know that if they are only a 9HD creature then they definitely need to be reworked, as that is just a waste of a spell slot.

Bump on this, with a further suggestion.

What would make this spell amazing is if it were done as the Summon 1-9 where a LG would get a LG Planar Ally, LE would get a Devil of some sort, and Chaotic Evil would get a Demon.

                For example...

                LG:Planetar
NG: Deva ((Humanoid, so easy to create the look. Colored skin, armor))
CG: Deva ((Humanoid, so easy to create the look. Colored skin, armor))

All neutral getting a random elemental.

LE:Barbed Devil ((Using perhaps the bladeling model with different stats))
NE:Barbed Devil ((Using perhaps the bladeling model with different stats))
                CE: Hezrou

Seems reasonable enough to me! Im sure the team are pretty tied up with class and dungeon balancing but its one for the keep box imo!

Summoning Demons is the same as summoning undead under sundren law.

But for a CE player that may be more RP fitting, and honestly the level 9 that is summoned is.. Lacking. For being the same level spell as Create Greater undead, I feel that it should be closer in strength, for all alignments.

I agree it would be nice to have them on par with the undead summons. They shouldn't be as strong as 1 - 9 because of duration, but they should mean something in a battle. I did the Summons 1 - 9, but frankly, have forgotten how I did them. I'll pester some of the coders for reminders and see what I can do. Can't promise anything though - the priority is on encounter balancing at the moment.

Of course, I don't expect that this should be done first. Just out there so when there is time, it can be looked at.

The neutral summons currently bring forth a: level 3 sylph with 18 HP and 13 AC. Not exactly sure about anyone else, but that dosen't even fit the requirements for fireball-fodder, even if it does throw a couple spells 1/day each.

For reference (I think it was asked early on) the Deathknight is 10 undead/ 10 fighter, for a total of 20 class levels. (Plus gear like +2 greatsword and such)

Kinda seems a bit stagnant with that middle line, I'ld be interested to see something more in line with the current summon selections for each, more like:

CN: Grey Slaad or level-boosted Sylph
                              TN: Random elemental
                              LN: Inevitable
