It actually depends fully on the PrC and the Base Class.

If we look at these builds just as an example:

    20 Fighter
    12 Fighter 8 FB
    13 Fighter 7 WM

What do you get from fighter that is unique after lvl 12? Nothing. You lose a few feats, and in return you can hit ALOT harder with FB or WM added

PrC's, mechanically, make your char have more power, the way you portray the fact that your char has the specialized training or abilities provides the flavor.

From what i understand, frenzied berserker requiement feats and skills were put in because they were fairly powerful when everyone at server was still at the lower levels. It was an attempt to stop players from making frenzied berserker power builds. But nowadays wih everyone at higher levels, frenzy berserkers didnt seem as powerful anymore and some requirements were taken off and some new ones were put in. But i think the new requirements should be taken off and set back to default, and heres my reasoning why...
      1) requirements were put in because berserkers were thought to be too powerful. Then it was taken off because it was reconsidered they were not too powerful when compared to some other classes. Putting new requirements would defeat the purpose of taking out the old ones.
      2) having barbarian lvls, multiple rage, and jump ranks makes little sense to me in terms of rp. A berserker in an anime called lodoss war was not a barbarian. He was a calm and collected mercenary who had a traumatic experience of his mother getting killed. So when ever he see a woman getting hurt, he would lose control and go berserk. Although he was not a d&d character. Hes just an example of how a non barbarian can be a berserker.
      3) jump and multiple lvls of barbarians sucks. Why would any want to have that?

        Generalisation and options = greatness.
Railroading and forced paths = terribad.

The flawed Barbarian class is not made any better by forcing people to take it as a route into a specific PRC, rather it should be made a more viable base class (feats?) and given a nicer place in lore (IWD and the Spine's proximity should be a start).

Preventing a single slightly OP melee build at the expense of a large swathe of people who want to have a flavoursome viable melee build (a personal favorite being the Bard10/FB10) seems stunning counter productive, especially with the abundance of obscenely OP multi-PRC mage/cleric builds that can be put together with little or no hassle.

          The four levels it takes to qualify for the class give you the best of what barbarian has to offer anyway;

          Class skills,
          Hit die increase,
          Rage,
          Movement Speed,
          Uncanny Dodge.

The only thing you really miss out on is greater/tireless rage and the damage reduction bonuses.

Does the extra rage feat count towards the requirement?

If so, I'd like to point out the awesomeness of a Bard/Fighter/Barb/FB build with ranks in UMD so that you can use wands bought off Val

              * You can take 5/6 levels in Bard without sacrificing AB because of heroism and inspire courage
              * Levels in Fighter lets you get the prerequistes for FB with bonus feats
              * UMD lets you boost const by 4 with a wand of Bear's Endurance, AC by up to 7 with wands of Mage Armour and Shield, and AC by a further 3 with a Barkskin Potion
              * Heroism + Good balance of classes + Rage/Frenzy = Awesome saves

...basically buy wands from me, I need teh monehz

Nope, the feat required is Rage II, gained at the 4th Barbarian level. Extra Rage doesn't cut the mustard.

Can someone edit the wiki then? It doesn't seem quite clear what you need on there.

I kinda like the Barbarian prerequisite.

I'd even more prefer a roleplay prerequisite.

For my part I would get rid of rage as a prereq. Bard-zerkers, UNITE! Then run off in separate directions smashing things... Musically of course.

I love how people think too deeply into things

The barbarian requirement is stupid, hands down. I agree with concept that Barbarians and Berserkers are two different things. In fact, I think of murderous assholes when I think of berserkers. Especially when I see them in fantasy genre settings elsewhere.

OOCly I agree that we should not punish the non-casters at all but encourage them.

Part of me wants to believe the balancing act is because Frenzy in NWN2 is powerful compared to P&P. In P&P a frenzied person will go crazy and fight their own team at times (If I recall), this was never implemented in NWN2.

There is an effect that can be put on people "Insane" which I believe can make your player char attack it's own team at times which I'd rather see.

In the end though I'd rather match P&P or even buff P&P for Mundane classes instead of punish.

                            Lothior, I love you.

When I think of Frenzied Berserkers I always think of Orson from Record of the Lodoss War.
