    Popularity contest, huh?

As far as I know, the last winner was me - I hate to make you look like a fool publicly, but if you'll do a little sleuthing here on the forums, you'll find I'm far from it. Some of the most interesting and perplexing posts I've made on this server weren't even answered - mainly involving pictures from the Hubble space telescope, the possibilities of travelling at light speed, and more recently, a post giving a link to a very interesting lecture by Brian Greene on M-Theory.

Personally, I'd love to retire him, and play a level adjustment race that isn't an orc, actually play a character that's interesting.
This isn't the federal government, nor is it a business. There are no 'Early Retirement Incentive' packages. Retirement is retirement - it isn't "Oh hey, Mr. DM, I don't want to play this character anymore, he wasn't even interesting from the start, so I'd like to play a +5 ECL race now."

ECL doesn't make a character interesting - It's unfortunate you would think that. Even playing an Aasimar with a +1 ECL, I found it to be pretty uneventful. If anything, you should be choosing the ECL races for roleplay purposes only - any other alternative is like owning an outrageously large vehicle in which you're making up for a lack of something else.

Perhaps the DM meant that you could never retire a character for an ECL race? Or perhaps the DM really meant that you would never play one? I don't know. That sounds like something I/we/whoever would have to see a dialogue transcript of. Sounds fishy.

Oh, and again, it isn't a popularity contest. Sorry to disappoint.

Oh, okay. Your childish behavior = justified. Since you live in a (humid?) desert and it was your birthday, it was okay to type a bunch of stupid untrue things. Gotcha.

Let me ask you something - I live in the great plains area which has been very rainy lately, so I understand the issue of humidity. It unfortunately isn't my birthday until next year.. what kind of things could I get away with a justification like that?

Let's see.. oh, that's right. None.

It's WotC pet class for whatever reason, and it's a crappy class. Flame me for these opinions or don't, I really don't care. And if this post came off as rude and uncivil to the staff, I really don't care either. I've seen people write out a rape scene on the server and get a slap on the wrist, so I seriously doubt this will really warrant any severe action, and if it does, again, I really don't care.
Since you don't understand the necessity of something like the RPoTM, I won't bother explaining it. There's enough resources on here for you to educate yourself, just as I had to.

More importantly, however, is your complete disregard for other people. I don't understand why you're here. Unless if you're a troll, I honestly don't see any reason why you would continue to stay - given your 'etiquette'.

As for the way you behave, I'm glad that particular DM gave you a taste of your own. I can now easily see why you would never be given the chance to play an ECL race.

It comes down to this: Improve your attitude, educate yourself, and practice expressing yourself through creative writing. It helps if you have D&D sourcebook material, which, despite how you have presented yourself on here, I am willing to provide you with if you'd like.

Annnnd this is the ending point.

Sorry folks, if you can't keep discourse civil we have to close these threads. As far as retirement goes, if another DM has an opinion on it they will add on. Thank you all for your constructive input.

          Retirement:

-If you want something ask. Worst we can do is say NO. (Or ridicule your silly idea :P )

-The rules on retirement are fine as they stand.

-Really all of the DM's here are quite mature and try to work with the interest of the server in mind. The WHOLE server.

-It is a story. We are making. You can't make it alone. As a story you should have a beginning a middle and an end. Best thing about our death rules is you 99.99% of the time get to chose that end.

-We have our reasons for doing things the way we do and for the larger part they work.

-Be the change you want to see in the world... even if it is a fictional-online one. (gandhi-acorn)

-Whiners get squat from me, end of story.
