  • Rods with Unlimited Cantrips and Level 1 Spells

I think one side affect of the changes will be wizards and sorcerers packing crossbows. To me, this never sat well. It just doesn't seem wizard-like!

A few more rods out there with unlimited acid splash, disrupt undead, etc. would give some options for steady damage that weren't bolts, without making them jacked at all. It'd be similar to having 4th edition at-will powers.

Recently wands were corrected so crafting them is a lot cheaper now. Also with these changes we will make wands in general more available at reasonable prices.

The wands should fill the gap when you're running low on spells as intended.
The very existence of flame-throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.

I advertised as a wand maker a while back for Radda, never had a single bite. No one was interested in them. She gave away far more Protection From __ and Disrupt Undead wands to inexperienced adventures heading into the goblin hills as part of RP'ing her faith than she ever sold.

Is it possible to post or reference current sundren costs?

          For potions.
          For scrolls.
          For wands.
          For rods.

Or really anything with a cost that doesn't have a recipe.

I seem to remember GBX posting the formula used back when the changes were made.

Can't remember them off the top of my head though!

Prices can vary quite a lot based on how good your appraise roll is.

One second level spell varies from 2,406 - 3,281 and I can not even say for sure if those are the absolute lowest or highest the spell can get, so setting a price in advance... say 3,500 in that particular case could still cost me money if I roll even worse next time. On the other hand, I could be making over 1000 stags each time. The person wanting the wand can't even guess how many stags they are going to need.

So the real down side is that it is impossible to set a price reliably and there can be a huge difference between spells of the same level as well.

              Cantrips 133 - 2,672*

              1st level 720 - 3,925

              2nd level 2,225 - 20,108

              3rd level 6,303- 29,561

              4th level 6,444 - 24,731

              * My list was made right after the adjustment so that spell might have been over looked as all the rest are below 650.

Perhaps something more along the lines of a fixed((or close)) price for spells could be had? Verror tried to make wands, but the price was so steep and unpredictable that he couldn't afford it.

DIfferent spells have different costs, we'd have to list every spell in the game (It's literally a 2da value that determines the cost).

I understand the 2da adjusts the cost. maybe a warning could go up in game?

This will cost X stags proceed?
                    then a yes or no.

The cost quoted could be based on what it "should be" and then you roll appraise and you could come out ahead or below....

But a ball=park figure would be cool to have.

As Grant's list shows, there is a huge range. Some would be willing to spend, say 6k but 24k would break the bank.

I guess for now the formula will have to do.

                      Only for scrolls,
You can stop listing potions and wands at level 4.

                      On second thought:

2da are delimited data base type plain text files right? If they be opened in Excel, then you could just pull the name and cost columns?

                        You could do that, yes.

Had a quick look at the .2da yesterday with a kind to do something like that, however the 800+ lines of non padding spell entries gave me pause (as did only having notepad).

You've got the file, you've suggested a solution, so do it.

What is the name of the file? I might have it, but there are hundreds of them. The games default spells.2da does not seem to be the one with a cost column.

Use nwpacker to pull out the spells.2da. Use a tlk editor to edit said 2da.

You have it, otherwise you couldn't play on Sundren / it'd auto download again.

iprp_spells.2da in Sundren2da.hak looks to be the file, go for it..
