Loan sharks....

How's about a Kartel or Coin loan shark that would give loans based on level and after some time send npc's to collect based on level and or DM controlled. In cases where npc collectors get killed easy send skilled players to collect.

Player either pays the loan to shark or collector npc or get royal beating and robbed off items and stags till loan is paid up.

Another good spot to use high diplomacy, bluff or intimidate to extend duration of pay back. Each time you extend via skill the test is more difficult and npc or pc collector more dangerous.

Different interest on loan based on reputation with lending faction.

Not to say this is a bad idea, because I do like it alot.

But couldn't the players in those factions do this?

Yes... My character is invovled in just such a consequence... took a huge loan and needs to payback by x time or else they come to collect. It is all RP based.

However, if there were NPC's available players would have somewhere to go to at any time with enough $$$ to offer the loan.

There are two dilema's in game to have players do the loaning... one is... players would have to have enough $$$ to loan on a regular for people that might come collect... Secondly Players would have to have enough firepower to enforce the pay me or else... Thirdly Player loaning would have to be on to one make the loan and two make the payement. An NPC loanshark is always on.. to both borrow and pay.

With Logic running the show there would alwasy be a pack of NPC's at the characters level to come collect.

Even if logic is to costly for thugs (resource on server or programming time) it can be GM run the NPC loan shark collectors or assign it to players that can collect.

To start with, instead of intensive compoundinding algorithms, we can just have the loan issuing NPC flag the player at the DM viewble level and have the DM on duty once thier flag goes off as this guy owes either send a group of NPC's adequate to collect or give a contract to adequate players or players to go collect. Coin, Cartel, Blackwood has just the likely individuals to take such contracts.

Collection can be either beat to subdual and pickpocket or if the offender has some how defeated enough collectors and not payed... KOS and DM take items to offset debt.

Yes Rich is correct. There is an entity that loans sums of money to PCs.

I doubt it's ever something that would be an automated system, if people were desperate for loans then they could make requests via the character request forums.

But remember - Your knees and family are at risk of you do not keep up repayments on a mortgage or other loan secured upon them.

I've never seen teh Red Wizard actually *give* a loan. He mostly just laughs at peoples' credit ratings... a most OOC joke, but funny all the same :P

Ah never tried to get a loan there.

Chara-request or requests to other players. I can't see an automated scripting thingy. Perhaps one of the DEVs does, so not a bad suggestion by any measure.
