  • Greater Dispel Magic

In NWN2, Greater Dispel Magic has a maximum caster level bonus of +15. In PnP the maximum bonus is +20. Could it be increased on Sundren to cap out at +20 instead of +15? This would benefit druids, clerics and bards that don't have access to Disjunction.

I'm thinking that's a bit tongue in cheek there, Talley, but actually it's a good idea. A way to destroy artifacts is kind of needed and that PnP spell would do the trick (though not without some risk attached). Thumbs up!

Yes, because what we need is to make clerics more powerful

If we made Mords more like it should be, isn't there a good chance some or all of you magic items would loose all their properties... not to mention the whole artifact destruction - summon god thing?

Destroying their hard-earned items would definitely be the number 1 way to smack non-magic classes in the face even more...

Mord's destroying items is not going to happen. The rust monsters were taken out for the same reason; losing items without a DM being present to ensure it stays fun for all = bad.

I think some items could be flagged destroyable by morde's. I agree that hard earned items being destroyed sucks, but nothing wrong with using it to destroy prenoted items that aren't so hard earned.

Still seems like a step in the wrong direction in the casters vs melee argument :/

Without the holy sword bug, the paladin class would be useless

You're absolutely right. Destroying magical equipment only hurts melee classes.

/disapprove of that sort of change to Mord's.

It would only undermine wizards, who are currently top dog in dispelling. And I don't see it helping clerics out that terribly much simply because most clerics I know of on Sundren are not pure clerics because 2 levels of fighter is far more attractive when you hit 18. This would primarily help bards and druids, more than anyone.

And then of course there is the fact that a Greater Dispel on a Weapon Master or Frenzied Berserker won't do much of anything, if anything it gives fighters a greater wealth of allies capable of dispelling the big bad cleric's buffs.

EDIT: Oh, Mords. Yes, destroying equipment would suck big time. I'm referring to just a caster level cap increase to Greater Dispel.

Lothoir, people were commenting on the suggestion to make Mord's destroy items. It would hit Weapon Masters and FB's the hardest, because they depend on their items the most.
