  • This may sound like a silly noob suggestion but,

Add in a how to download simple server info page

I may be a normal PW player back about a year or so but that was in the "Dark Days" when you had to jump through seven hoops kick a baby goat over a field goal and then slap a pregnant dog and then let it maul you AND THEN you had to dl some weird stuff and twist it all about

just so noobs and "Dark Day" Vets all can see, OOOOOO thats how you do it and not get aggravated and leave thinking this is an anti newcomer mod

Not to sound harsh but this pretty much sums it up... where is the howto beyond clicking join and waiting for files to download?

There is also the getting started section on the wiki that even tells you how to log into NWN2 multiplayer and click on join. It's here.
The very existence of flame-throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.

Well we always try to improve the wiki and anyone who wants to help out can get mod access, if you think it's hard to find some things like this feel free to contribute ideas.

I really only see returning old NWN2 players have issues with the downloading because they expect it from before, most new players don't have the issue or people who frequented NWN2 already.

When the autodownloader came about I basically removed all download information so as not to confuse anyone into thinking they should download files manually to play and potentially cause damage with old or invalid content.

After you tell them how to download you might want to explain some other things... I never played a PW in NWN, at least not one populated enough to form a party on. So when I came to Sundren I was a complete noobie when it came to things like:
                accidentel PvP,
                AoE spell accidents,
hot keyed attacks and a targeted friendly,
                the whole DMFI tool thing,
                the .<comands>,
                the /<commands,
the right click attack the critter (the DM forgot to set hostile),
now there is the new "Sundren" right click options on the menu as well.

I know we still get people who need to be told how to send a tell, how to dance/sit on the ground etc. and not to use the /p option when DM's are about.

At the very least it will give people something to read while they wait for the downloads to finish.

I remember the first time I played on a PW. I was invited into a party and off we went adventuring, problem was I didn't know how to make my character talk. After awhile they all just referred to my guy as the silent one. I figured out how to send tells to myself and got busy talking to myself until the party broke up. MY first DM interaction was here on Sundren. Scared the hell out of me and hooked me at the same time.

Thats quite the story! I had a similar experience on NWN1 since I was used to single player I didnt realise how to talk for quite a while till I checked the manual and I was like "Ahhh, Im an idiot!"
